I have, and found nothing. Doesn't this indicate that "God" has failed me as opposed to vice versa? No Bible quotes as answers please.

I've read the Bible. It provoked less original thought in my mind than a novel like "Brave New World". Should I worship Aldous Huxley for his divine wisdom?

RJ- I didn't have a true heart? How would you know? That's an arrogant assumption.

It's not about unanswered prayers. It's about unanswered questions. Big difference.

You'd think that if God were so great, he would recognize that you were reaching out to him and he would answer you...............

If you eliminate Gods word(his written message to us), from your search, how will you find him?

At least consider this, have you ever seen the amount of effort that goes into the assembly of a 7 story structure?
As planned as it is, these projects are fraught with oversights and mistakes. Typically, we do not expect modern structures to repair themselves or even last beyond a useful life of 40-60 yrs.

Now compare this fact to the human body.
1. converts and delivers it's own energy.
2. repairs itself.
3. has mechanical features that are marvels of engineering.

Looking at the mechanisms contained just within the hands, how hard do you think it would be to build an artificial version that never breaks down for up to 100 years?

Look around and ask yourself, if there is no God, did all these amazing things around us on this earth happen by accident?

Anyhow, I answered within the parameters you set forth, later.

Religion's conception of God is rather self-rightious in my opinion. Religionists are always spouting out, "God loves me," and, "God forgives all." But think about it. If (and that's a rather big 'if') there is infact some all powerfull deity that created and runs the world, why would he be so interested in every detail of every insignificant life? Don't you think if such a being existed he'd be much too busy keeping the universe in order to care about each and every one of us? If you reached out to God and never heard back it's probably because he could give a damn (litterally) about simple human problems. Those who claim to have felt God's touch are much more likely to have created a feeling all on their own. Maybe they found words in a book that gave them inspiration. But they were just words. Written by human hands, printed by man-made machines, and sold for the profit of working people.
If the lofty pipe-dreams of a spiritual religon don't touch you, maybe you're meant for something more mundane. But don't let that word fool you. Just look at all the things natural instict has brought us.
People have found strength in the hoary ramblings of long dead preachers, but perchance you resonate with a mentality solidly based in logic.
I implore you to take a gander at the phylosophies of a man known as Anton Szandor La Vey. As you delve into his writings I request simply that you keep an open mind and look past a name and see what it truly symbolizes.

I've been told the same thing...then when I say I've already done that (searched for many years, sometimes I will even give the whole story of my de-conversion process)...still, the same person, after hearing how I searched and that I read the bible, prayed whatever, claims that I didn't try hard enough or didn't really want to believe in the first place.

Keep trying. Either He can't hear you, or you can't hear Him. Incidentally, which God are you trying for? There are so many to choose from. You can pick a deity for which you have an affinity, like Osiris, Shiva, Poseidon or any other god, or you can plump for the big one - the Supreme Creator of the Universe. I guess you need to define what God you're looking for before you can start to communicate with it.

Are you saying that you've prayed to God, but you don't feel like they were answered? Sometimes God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers. Sorry, I missed your original question so I don't know what was asked.

Just means you have failed to listen to God's small voice. I have had no problem with this in my life. You just need to relax and listen. Do you read the Bible? God speaks there more than anywhere else.

God is in the Yellow Pages, reach out and touch someone.

God doesn't answer prayer according to our time limits that we set on them. He answers in His own time. You need to be patient and keep praying about your situation. He will send you an answer but you have to pay attention to Him.

How have you "reached out"? All I can say is seek and you shall find....I did and I found and the truth has set me free....I will pray for you.
The Bible says TRUE RELIGION IS THIS: to not defile oneself and to care for widows and orphans.

no-it only indicates you didn't have a true heart when you reached out..you weren't looking for God, just the opposite...

now, please- go on and be an atheist if you want, it's between you and God- I don't need you to believe what I believe...
