know what we site I can go to to find out? My son is halfway through boot camp, I'm wondering if the base has dorms? or appliances? will he be assigned a roommate? Will he need his own bed? can he have a TV, computer, etc. He has been told that 1 week graduation he will be sent there. Does he need to provide his own transportation to Pensacola?

I'm not informed on the military aspects of your question, but I can tell you that he will LOVE Pensacola!!!!!
We have the most beautiful beaches here--snow white!! If he likes the water, or just looking at pretty girls in bikinis--he's in the right place!!
The military is held in very high regard here!!
Pensacola is a very inexpensive place to live, and alot of military personnel live off base, many as roommates.
This is NOT a wild, spring break kind of city, but we do have alot of young people here, many in the local colleges, and there are lots of fun places to go, and things to do.
Does your son have his own vehicle? Unfortunately, the bus system shuts down at dark, so alot of kids carpool or share taxis.
I know I didn't help with your questions, but I wanted to ease your mind about the type of town your son is going to.
Pensacola is a nice place to live, and it's low in crime too.
We love our Military, and I'm sure your Son will enjoy his time here. Good Luck!!!

all single sailors attending A schools will be housed in Barracks. he could have anywhere from one to three roomates. Basics will be provided, but luxuries such as TVs computers and such are not. There may be a phone in the room, but he would have to pay to have it hooked up. there may or may not be internet capabilities in the barracks, but there are places around the base where he can either get wireless for his laptop or access to a public computer

The barracks may have a central kitchen area that is shared by the entire building. There is also the Galley where he will be taking most of his meals anyway.

Be aware, though.. many of the barracks were damaged by the Hurricanes and are not yet back up to full capacity. Is he going Aviation or Cryptology?

He will be provided transportation to Pensacola from where he is at, normally the rooms will not have a TV or computer. He will probably have a dorm room with at least one roommate & they will give him a bed.

He will have dorm housing unless he is a single officer then he will have a 1 room apartment. If he is married he will get a duplex depending on size of family. The officer housing is very nice.
Good luck with him, as a fellow mother with son in military it is tough but trust in his training.( or God if Christian)

off base, because of the fact then you definately are paying on your domicile - it is an investment. surely, the BAH the protection stress is proposing you with turns into unfastened money to take a place at your domicile of abode. while in case you survive base, it is like renting: handy, yet no longer clever interior the long term. once you're clever you purchase a house with a private loan below your BAH, then you definately are ok.
