Does anyone know if colleges accept credits from being homeschooled or do they only accept your credits if you've gone to a REAL public or private school? Does it also depend on the college as to whether or not they'll accept this kind of thing?

My daughter finished high school at home. She got a 35 on her ACT, so she had no problem getting into whatever school she wanted. A LOT of schools contacted her.

The HSLDA website has an entire section on homeschool and college. I put a link to it in sources. You will need a transcript showing what 'courses' you've completed and you'll need to fulfill the other admission requirements (essays, etc.) But many colleges and universities are now actively RECRUITING homeschool graduates. They have seen that 1) they are better prepared, academically and 2) they typically have a much easier transition than public school students.

I don't know what the procedures are, but they do somehow. Otherwise, it would be a diservice to homeschool your kids. You'd almost be setting them up for failure if they couldn't get into college. Homeschooled kids still go to college so you should check with the colleges you are thinking of applying to and see what their procedures are or what you need to do.

Most do, especially private ones, but you have to check with the school.
