Now wait a minute... what third word? It could be any third word to anything. "Three" is the third word of the passage. But I'm assuming you asked for the third word that ended in "gry" right?

For one...
"Aggry" is also a "gry" word, meaning some prehistoric bead, but this is not very common. But it is one answer of a word that ends in "gry".

Same with the word "gry" itself. Gry is a word. It's a measurement equal to one-tenth of a line, created by a man named Locke.

But, some others say it would be "onegry" but that is not a word, and there's no way you can prove it to be one. Others say that words like "dog-hungry" could be it, but that really doesn't count because the word "hungry" is already in it, so there is really no difference.

But to be specific, the suffix -gry is Latin for 'the grunt of a pig'. Think about it for a minute... when you're hungry, your stomach makes a growling/grunting noise. When you are angry, you make noises or have facial expressions of a pig.

See below also. I retrieved this from http://www.dictionary.com and http://www.word-detective.com/gry.html

" "Angry" and "hungry" are two words that end in "gry".
There are three words in the English language. What is the third word? Everyone knows what it means and everyone uses it every day. Look closely and I have already given you the third word. What is it?

Answer: "language".

This puzzle has circulated widely on the Internet for some years, but usually in an abbreviated form such as "Name three common English words ending in 'gry'", which has no good third answer."

If it was so common, we would know what it was. It's not that hard, guys, really. You would know. Just think about it for a minute. If it was so common, and you used it every day, you would know...

isnt this how the riddle goes? :

"Think of words ending in -GRY. Angry and hungry are two of them. There are only three words in the English language. What is the third word? The word is something that everyone uses every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is." .. and the answer is language..

but in this case i guess the answer is vocabulary

language.

In its proper, original form, the first two sentences have absolutely nothing to do with the question: "Think of words ending in -GRY. Angry and hungry are two of them." Ignore those two sentences. They are there only to throw you off course. (And it worked, didn't it?) What's left is the actual riddle itself: "There are only three words in the English language. What is the third word? The word is something that everyone uses every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is."
The key is the phrase "the English language." In this three-word phrase, the third word is simply the word "language." Get it? "Language" is definitely something that "everyone uses every day"! Without that quirky little twist, the puzzle would be just another trivia question, not a riddle

You know, you all are making me "angry" ! And when I get angry, I get "hungry"! And when I get hungry I eat! It's to late to eat, plus I have nothing to eat anyway. So don't that make you just wanna "gry"?
