how to control small bats that live in my verandah false ceiling at dehradun we have tried incense burning?

every summer the leechie fruit ripens in our garden and thousands of FOX BATS emerge from jungles around and devour the fruit. workers make noises and also now we tried putting light bulbs on top of trees but this method is not economical. this question is not related to earlier question on small bats staying in verandah. the small bats are approximately six inches across but the FOX BATS are having wing spans of more than a metre.

I had a friend with a simalar problem with his house here in the US.He had to remove the ceiling to his porch and have the bats removed by a professional pest control person.After the bats were removed he screened off the place they were using to get in and replaced the ceiling.I do not know if it would do you any good since you have so many bats,but he constructed bat houses in the trees around his property to give them somewhere else to stay instead of his house.

A better solution would be to try to live with the bats since these are fruit bats. Call your local wildlife office and ask them for any recommendations. Get rid of the fruit and the bats will go. Rainforest plants and trees depend on fruit bats for pollination and seed dispersal. Flying foxes help insure that there will always be there. Fruit bats may fly over 20 mile to reach it's feeding grounds. Which ever means you use, please be conservative of these wonderful and essential animals.

I don't know what the fox bats are, but the small bats are protected species and you shouldn't send them away or kill them. Besides, they eat harmful insects and they are very useful.

Try moth balls. Most critters do not like the smell and find it hard to breath.
