I have tried brushing my long haired cat but she still shreds all over everything and everywhere.

I first bush my cat with a slicker brush to get rid of the loose hair. Then I apply Allerpet Solution. This cleanses the cat hair of saliva and dander. Just dampen a washcloth and rub it into the fur. I found that a lot more fur comes out by rubbing the solution in. After the fur drys it looks shinny and clean and no more shedding for quite a while. There are other products similar to these that can be found at a pet supply store.

What's up with all of these cat haters? I have a long haired cat too. He shed's a ton, but he also get's these mat's in his fur. Brushing daily will help, especially if you use a medium-fine tooth comb from the pet store. Along with bathing her once a month. (Take to a groomer for this, bathing cat's sucks.) You might consider getting her short shaved for the summer. She'll still be soft, and the shedding would cut down. Otherwise, if all else fails, vacuum like crazy!

My old neighbour placed a soft blanket on one end of the lounge and repeatedly picked the cat up and placed it there whenever it lay anywhere else when inside. Takes lots of patience at first, but once it clicks , problem solved. Cats like to take the easy option! Also cheap sticky rollers for animal fur on furniture in the discount warehouse type stores. Have refills as well. Magnetic type floor dusting cloths (like a modern broom) attract the hair and make it easier to clean up. Some time each day outside rolling on the grass etc would help. Nature works!Supervised or not, depending on circumstance.Your cat will love you (more) for it! Remember it didnt choose to be born with excess hair!

Try changing her food. Go to naturapet.com and learn about one of the best foods out there. Innova EVO is the best food on the market right now.
The additives and preservativesand even some ingredients they put in food is not good for cats, and shedding can be a sign of that.
Understand too, that cats shed. Seasonally usually, but indoor cats always have good "weather" so sometimes continually shed.
Good luck

Go to the vet for a medicine that can stop the shredding of your cat's hair, that's probably the best option. I had the same thing a few weeks ago with my rabbit and that medicine worked.

Putting the cat in a plastic bag will solve the whole problem permanently. Seriously, cat's shed and if you're going to have a long haired cat you're going to have shedding. About the only thing you can do is to vacuum and try to clean up as often as you can. Good luck.

as crazy as it sounds, you need to bath your cat about once every two weeks. cats really DONT hate water like you think they do, all you have to do is hold them by the scruff of their neck like their mothers do, it kind of puts them in paralysis (so they dont feel anything near as much and it makes them calmer) then you shampoo, rinse VERY well, condition, and rinse well again, if you leave soap in their fur it will irritate their skin badly. after the cats dry themselves off, THEN you brush them WELL from their head to their tail. they works FANTASTIC with my two long haired cats, that USED to shed so bad it looked like my house was growing hair! lol!

Sorry to say, you have to get rid of it. My mom did, it was the only choice. It is a natural process, and you can't stop it from shedding. Get a Yorkie like I have- they don't shed. Only 4 types of dogs that don't shed.
