Turkey straddles the "border" between Europe and Asia. A small part with the great city of Istanbul lies in Europe, but the by far biggest part, including the capital Ankara, lies in Asia.
They want to become a member of the EU, but only recently have negotiations begun. If they ever become a member, it will be not before at least 15 years, if ever.
