have him go to his doc and get Zyrtec. it works, my boyfriend is allergic to cats and he doesn't have too much of a problem with the 2 cats we have. make sure you brush your cat at least once a week and vacuum 1-2 times a week. have one room off limits to the cat so your boyfriend can go somewhere and not be bothered. you can get arm and hammer stuff you put on your carpets that is good for getting pet hair up you can use that one time when you vacuum and then the next time get the allergen reducer. also get an air purifier. That way you should be able to live happily ever after!

Usually people are not allergic to the cat itself its the dander. If you have an inside cat it is easier to deal with because they wont be introducing more allergens into the home environment. Start by bathing the cat I know this is no easy feat but if you start young and do it frequently the cat might actually start to enjoy this( make sure you give them treats and lots of loving) Put water in the tub but don't leave the water running. the don't really like the noise much. Lots of soft talking and petting use a cup to rinse. Make sure to leave the collar on. If this doesn't work get rid of the bf. Good luck:)

He could take some allergie med's and in time he will become accustomed to the cat so it will not bother him anymore. Or he will outgrow the allergie. I think if you give it a chance. You will have a long and loveing relationship with the cat. I don't mean that in a weird way. I have two cats now. I would'ent be without them.I find it very nice to have her/him to greet you at the door when you come home and to have her/him to cuddle with you. Anyway as you can tell. I'm a big cat fan. Hope you can learn to live with the change. I think you will find it worth it.

You can combine them both. First, keep some antihistamine pills nearby. Second, I 've heard allergies to cats go away if you get accustomed to being near a cat. Also your friend can go to an allergy doctor, he can get a treatment (like vaccinating with the allergen) and the allergy will stop. Look up cat allergies in yahoo answers, there have been many similar questions.

first go to specialist to make sure his allergies are for the cat.
he may not be allergic to the cat per-say but to micro dust on the cat fur, micro dust which can be found on sofas and other things.
after you confirmed that your BF is allergic to the cat you can do two things:
one:
taking the meds the doc will prescribe for your BF and second go see an alternative healer. I heard acupuncture helps as well as alternative meds. I heard people who stopped drinking and eating cow milk and cow milk by product they switched to other kind of milk. This things help.
Second:
Comb your cat each day and vacuum your house before your BF comes.
Also I heard of allergy going away on their own after awhile. How ever do not give away your cat allergy can be treated.

Dump the bf, keep the cat. In the long term you will realise you made the right choice. There are many bfs out there but cats are special.

You're probably going to have to get rid of the cat is he's really allergic to cats. It's not easy when something like this comes up but it's just one of those things that has to be done.

Sounds like you need to get a new boyfriend...or become a lesbian. Either way, you're in for a whole lot of fun and you still get to keep the cat.
