Because the ph of alcohol pulls nicotine out of your system faster, so your nicotine levels drop a lot quicker resulting in you wanting to smoke a lot more to top up your nicotine levels.

ya know, i'd love to know the answer to that! i've never smoked in my life, so i don't understand smoking PERIOD. i think it's nasty. but i really don't understand why people tend to smoke more when they're drunk. my roomie only smokes when she's drunk. maybe it's because you have less self control when you're drunk?

Alcohol is a vasodilator (it dilates your veins). Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor (it constricts your veins). Your body is seeking stasis.
