First of all, it is MOSTLY true that the only stupid question is the one you don't ask. Trust me, I have asked many a stupid question, but am still glad I asked them.
To answer yours, lol means Laughing Out Loud. L for laughing, O for out, L for Loud.

Well when I looked your question up on the net it just sent me to a blog site.
My mother use to tell us there is no dumb question. She also said if you have something to ask. It never hurts to learn.
