Hello, Your dog will become uneasily restless and want to go looking for a place to have her puppies, probably away from anyone and in a dark place, you will instinctively know when she is near. If you want her to have it in a place where you would like, make sure that it is in a safe place possibly in a dark corner somewhere. Put down a cardboard box and line it with lots of newspaper as there will be alot of blood and keep a blanket and a towel handy to help wipe the blood, also remove the newspaper when they become too bloody. First you must take her to the cardboard box and stay with her, let her wander around a little bit but then take her back to this place until she realises it is ok to have her pups here. If it is the first time that she is having pups she may have a hard time and may want you near her to help and when the pups come out put them near her face so she can lick them, also just be a bit careful as well as she may not like this. She may also become a little rough with the newborn pups as it hurts her to have them so just keep an eye on her while she is delivering them. Keep a bowl of water for her too close by. Hope this helps.

they will often start 'nesting' a few days beforehand, ie choose a place to give birth. It is usually well away from any other activity, dark and will dig a hole if they can. Best not too disturb them here if they choose an acceptable spot. Once this happens and shes trying to stay around the area, birth is not too far away. the milk may let down and her teats become full or leak slightly. Hope this helps

Number 1; the age of the dog is VERY, VERY risky even to get pregnant. Number 2; the fact that she is on seizure medication makes med think that its be very dangerous to even allow the dog to carry a litter of pup, let alone carry them to full term, did your wife bother to think, the pup may inherit the seizures & hip dyplasia problems? You aren't going to get alot for a Who knows what Heinz mixed Heinz variety. Number 3; I wouldn't be surprised if the pregnancy trigger a seizure. Number 4; In this case due to the medical issues of your dog, its best to get a secrete Spay and abort!

When she starts sniffing around hidden or dark arears for a suitable private den.
To prevent her from building one that you might fume over later.
I advice you to place a large cardboard box in a secluded corner facing away from human access.
place the box in a "C" position for her easy access, place some cloth on the base for her comfort.
Then persistently lead her to the box, if she still scout around for a better place, you know why.
Keep your persistent, lead her back to the box, cox her to lie down inside, lie down beside her and pet her around with sweet talks, make her feel comfy.
This works for me most of the times.
But if she already has a better place in her mind, its hard to talk her out of it. Then you'll understand why Gramm's position is not so easy as you've thought.
Congratulations to you of becoming a grandmum.

If you can take a rectal temperature on her it is common for their temps to drop below the normal of 101 prior to giving birth. Also she will not want to eat and become restless. Look for signs of her trying to create a nesting place to give birth, piling blankets, clothes or other soft things together.
