I was in pets and there was a question asking why is this world so messed up, and another about a girl that had broke her moms camera and wanted advice, neither was about pets.

From what I've seen, I've suspected four main reasons in the cases I've encountered of miscategorized queries....
1. Ignorance - they haven't a clue how to properly select an appropriate category...
2. Apathy - they don't give a crap about putting it in an appropriate category or don't see the point...
3. Impulse - a question comes to mind while they happen to be in some unrelated area, and they post the question where they happen to be...
3. Oversight - they are focusing on their question so much that they don't pay attention to whether they're posting it in an appropriate category.

in case you've been contained in the gay and lesbian area once you pushed the ASK button that is one reason. also, if the headline of your question stated gay or lesbian that is yet another excuse. In both case, Yahoo! only defaults to a type, yet helps you to %. the category your self. You were likely in a hurry and did not be conscious the alternative. you could always ask Yamster. let the Mayor pay attention! I scent a setup.

because the girl usually asks about her pet...so she knows that the people who usually answer her there will be friendly.
if she asked about a broken camera elsewhere she would be answered by strangers, and possibly get flamed by nasties and perverts.
