1. The US was built on the shoulders of sales persons...they have now transformed to telemarketers...
2. Very important to bring low cost, better quality new services and products to markets...without them, there would no USA and consumerism that exists today, no research data would be available as to what the worlds needs in terms of new products and services.
3. A good job for college kids to pay for their education...as well as the rest of the world for leveraging VoIP and other new technologies without whom, there would be no critical mass for adoption of new technologies!!!

They have a job to do.
They are trying to earn a living like everyone else.
They are our neighbors.

They work for someone. But they're annoying, intrusive and persisten. Often fraudulant, too.

I think they are bottomfeeders.
I always tell them, "I'm sorry, we don't accept telemarketing calls," and then I hang up.
I hope I never get desperate enough to be one.

i think they are just doing there job. i mean yea they are annoying but still its a job. it pays.
one time they asked for my mom and i was like "she with my dad right now making me a new baby brother or sister" and she was standing 5 feet in front of me doing laundry. it was so funny
