I just answered a lice question for someone else, and then here is this one, gosh. Read the website below. Do not panic. Just watch the kids and if they begin to itch, check thoroughly. Check each morning or evening if you want, couldn't hurt. You do not have to shave their heads. My daughter got lice once and kept her waist long hair - we were successful. Best wishes!

Go ahead and treat them if you're that freaked out about it but realize that lice can only be transfered from hair to hair contant... lice can't jump and don't live off the host for very long --if you're kids haven't been rubbing heads with the others or sharing combs or hats then chances are they won't get it. Fertile adults will only lay about 2 or 3 eggs a day (nits) so chances are unless they had it for a long time you wounldn't see a wicked bunch of them. Go to MSN search and type in Head Lice - my neice had it recently and I was checking it out for my 3 year old... some of the docs that come up should put your mind to ease/give you a next action plan for your little ones

Apparently the treatment she is using is not effective or she is not making sure all the nits are gone from her childrens hair. I would be concerned just as you are. Lice are easily transmitted from clothing, furniture, bedclothing, or close contact with those that are infected. Treating for lice goes beyond just getting them out of the hair. If your neighbor has not completely cleaned bedclothing, towels, clothing, and the furniture, then she will possibly have reinfestation of lice in just a few days.

My suggestion would be not to allow your children to play with hers until this problem is resolved . As for your children you should check them daily for at least a couple of weeks to see if you see nits or small pearl gray lice that usually like to stay near the warm parts of the scalp, the nape of the neck, forhead area, and around the ears. A lot of times the first sign is seeing your children doing a lot of head scratching in these areas. If you see lice I would recommend a trip to the doctor for a prescription that works better than the over the counter products. Very short hair cuts for boys during the summer is a big help. If you have girls, then you will have to do a lot of combing with a nit comb especially made to help rid the hair of nits. There are sprays you can use for beds and furniture. You must place all contaminated towels, clothing, and bedclothing in a sealed bag until you are ready to wash them in hot water. Sounds like your neighbors need a little information in how to finally get rid of these little buggers. I wish you the best and I hope your children don't have them.

Do yourself a favor and keep your kids away from hers for a long time. It is said that it is not a shame to get head lice, but it is a shame to keep it. My child had head lice once, and it was an incredible amount of work to get rid of it, including washing every article of clothing and bedding in the house, vacumning the beds. I even threw out the pillows and bought new ones, bought new hair brushes, etc. Ask yourself, do you need this extra trouble and expense?
Tell your kids never to try on someone else's hats, or use their hairbrushes. Personally, I wouldnt let them into the neighbor's home. Teach them not to be rude about this or mention it to the neighbor's kids, they don't have much control over the situation, and you dont want World War III with neighbors. But unless you want to be miserable, I would steer clear of these people. Good luck.

I say go all out and lice-proof your kids, but then again, I'm a hypochondriac, and I'm itching just THINKING about lice. Also, lice are tricky little buggers. Better to be safe than sorry.

head lice are actually parasites, just like roundworms, they are a bit tricky since you never know if you are already infected since they can infect via nits (eggs)or the lice itself...good grooming is the only way you can prevent them, shampoo hair and use a fine comb, change your sheets, if possible keep your kids away from the infected kids. but basically if you're already infested use a medicated shampoo and use the fine comb.

The sixteen y/o is better than qualified to video demonstrate the youngsters (in the eyes of the regulation) they're going to in straightforward terms step in if the youngsters appear as if they do no longer seem to be being fed, pass over college, get caught vandlising etc. certainly the youngsters would desire to be in iminent danger and or harm in the previous they are able to do something. basically being abode with an older sister isn't a being in danger unhappy yet it is the way it is going
