As in the Christian idea of a Rapture, Tribulation - with the stuff about Isreal, natural disasters, maybe even 9/11. Any thoughts? Seriously.

i don't know where you stand on christianity, but here goes. the world is at a close. yes it could last a few more generations but the things that are goin on are preparing the world for the things that revelations predicted a little less than 2000 years ago. I believe that when things are in the proper order the rapture will take place. maybe that won't be in the near future, but we should all be prepared and be preparing our families.

the ending is the beginning.
"I Am the Alpha and the Omega".
there is no rapture - it's not in the Bible - but the players prophecied 2500 years ago in the old testament are the exact players in the game right now. Danile is the most prophetic Book in the Bible regarding these times - but you will find some good info from the verses below from Matthew that the Master gave us Himself:

Matthew 24:15-31

"So when you see the desolating sacrilege spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains; let him who is on the housetop not go down to take what is in his house; and let him who is in the field not turn back to take his mantle. And alas for those who are with child and for those who give suck in those days! Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a sabbath. For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. And if those days had not been shortened, no human being would be saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. Then if any one says to you, `Lo, here is the Christ!' or `There he is!' do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. Lo, I have told you beforehand. So, if they say to you, `Lo, he is in the wilderness,' do not go out; if they say, `Lo, he is in the inner rooms,' do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of man. Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.

"Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken; then will appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory; and he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."

It would be correct to say, the world age is coming to an end. This planet Earth is where GOD will set up His New Jerusalem after the Millennium Reign.
The Tribulation will happen, then Our Lord second advent. He's coming back mad. Full of wrath and carrying a rod of iron. Its best to be on His good side. A word to the wise.><>

Everybody thinks the world is ending whenever anything happens. Nostradamus, revelations in the christian faith, and even other religions all have that vague the world is ending predictions. Does it mean anything? Probably not. Everything ends, but could we be lucky enough to catch it? Nope. We're doomed to grow old and watch our kids ruin the world just like our grandparents and their grandparents did.

World

Definition: When translated from the Greek word ko´smos, “world” can mean:
1.  humankind as a whole, apart from their moral condition or course of life
2. the framework of human circumstances into which a person is born and in which he lives
3. the mass of mankind apart from God’s approved servants.
Some Bible translators have conveyed inaccurate impressions by also using “world” as the equivalent of Greek terms that mean earth, inhabited earth, and system of things.

The world that is to end has to do with definition #3.

the world isn't ending, but it's headed for a disaster.
the world has cycles of disasters.
some people always survive and start all over again. no civilization.
starting from scratch.
that's ok. it gives the world a few thousand years to become green again.

If it happens it happens. I'm not going to change my life or the way I live just because the world "might" end tomorrow

edit:
from the religious point of view the world was suppose to end in 1799,1899,1999 and look it's 2006!!!!

No doubt ! No doubt, the world is near the end. Prepare now to meet your maker. Repent and ask Allah to forgive your sins. This evening may be too late !
