if i am only paying for college with the financial aid and grants will the school take what i owe out of my aid or do i have to tell them this

You have to file for financial aid with your school's financial aid office. They should be able to take care of it, but make sure you keep on top of it, because financial aid offices can be really good at losing your paperwork, not getting things done, etc.

I would think it depends on how the school credits the money to you. At my school, we had a billing system that all the student's bills went to called the U-bill (University bill). Charges such as dorm rent, meal plan, tuition and other fees were charged to this bill. You could pay it right out, or wait for financial aid to come through.

When financial aid was credited, it went to the U-bill first, then any extra was issued to the student in the form of a check or direct deposit. I would ask your financial aid department how they handle it. Good Luck!
