My computer was unable to play music.
When I opened Device manager in my computer I found that under (Sound, video and game controllers) only the following appears:
Audio codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Media Control Devices
Video Codecs
,Then I noticed that SoundMAX Integrated Dital Audio was missing, after checking device manager in another computer.

I then went on to download the SoundMAX software from the Internet. But unluckily it display this error message during installation:

"Driver not found! Reboot your system, and run this setup again"

I tried to reboot the system several times, but the same error message appears. Can anyone help me please. What should I do? Thank you in advance.

Sounds like you may have to replace the card.

If it is your desk top it will be easy to replace and only about 100 dollars, it if is your laptop that might somewhat more costly because it is integrated into the your system.

First Try going to the manufacture website for the PC you are having a problem, HP.com or DELL.com, and looking for there drivers.

Depending on the kind of download, You may have to extract the files to a folder, Then from the device manager, update drivers, and have the device manager look in the file that you extracted the files to.

If that don't work.
Try installing the Legacy drivers from the device manager. reboot. Then run the driver program that you downloaded..

Not all Computers have the same sound drivers, What kind of sound card do you have? The best bet you have is to go to the website of the PC that you bought, there should be a support section, and then a drivers and software section, or a downloads section.. Search for the files by the model number of your PC.

Just because one computer has a particular Device hardware, does not mean that both will. Before going out to buy a whole new soundcard, I would reccommend swapping sound cards (if you have 2 computers of your own). If not, there are simple devices out there that you can buy to test if the sound card has gone bad or not.

However, it does sound like a possible sound-card problem. Either that, or a dll file was corrupted and you would need to reinstall the operating system.
