Honestly, lol. I find it easy to believe considering the many people i've met from all over the world. There are some really stupid guys out there, but there are also some who are smart. But unfortunately, the stupid overweigh the good, and gives us a bad rap.
Well anyways, for your situation, you should probably explore more aspects to the situation before you say something irrational to your BF. If you believe he tursts you enough to believe that, then just tell him honestly. Personally, i think it might be your BFs' friends who are the prob, not him. So...just keep your boyfriend close....and your enemies closer, hehehe.

If I were you,i would definetly talk to him,in person.Ask him why he would believe something like that without even coming to you.
This is just a opinion....and just a random one.
Maybe he wants to take some time off,and he doesnt kno how to brake it to you,so he is using that as an excuse! But I would go with the first one haha lol
