you cant just eat one food cause apples dont have all the vitamins or whatever that you need. i think a normal apple has 80 calories so if you eat more calories than you burn then you'll get fat.

While apples are among the healthiest fruits, like others have said, they lack important minerals and vitamins. Most importantly, however, is that they lack protein. Humans need a certain amount of protein in their diets because there are some amino acids that humans just can't produce on their own. If you look at regions where cannablism was practiced, they're typically regions that lack domesticated animals as a suitable food source, and the belief is that humans who were deprived of protein sought other means of getting it (i.e., devouring human flesh). So unless your friend wants to become a closet cannibal, I suggest he stick to a balanced diet.
And being fat has more to do with calorie input versus expenditure. If he's eating more apples than his body burns through, he's going to get fat.

You need to have a balanced diet to be happy, which means eating more than one kind of fruit. Apples are healthy, but you can't eat them exclusively. Any food in excess will make you fat, although you'd probably make yourself sick before you ate enough apples to get fat from them.

This site explains how you can eat tons of raw fruit and not get overweight. But no single food has everything you need in it. So your friend is half right and half wrong. He could benefit from just eating apples for a couple of weeks.

Apples are good for you, but you couldn't live on em. They don't have all of the essential vitamins and minerals. You'd get sick.

Too much of anything is bad. Apples are good for you, in moderation.
