It has always been easier for me to type with all capital letters so I wouldn't have to push the shift key to capitalize stuff here and there. Besides that, it is easier for me to see.(I'm old) Where can I read about the ettiquette for writing on the computer screen, etc? I know not to cuss and stuff like that, but as far as capitals and !!!!!!!!!!!!! and???????????? is that rude, too? Help!

People concider using capital letters has shouting.. or yelling.
There are ways to make your fonts bigger if you are having problems seeing. In explorer.. Click view.. Text size.. Largest.
As for !!!!!!!!!! just means alot of excitment
And ???????????? Means confused
Don't worry about using them.

Capitals represents emphasis or shouting.
If you type in all caps, people are going to think that you're ill tempered about the subject and you are angrilly screaming everything you say as though you have the most important advice and nobody else deserves to speak.
Typing a ton of punctuation marks usually seems childish or informal at best. Only use it in highly casual situations.

Because in internet chat, typing in all caps is the same as yelling. Adding !!!!!!!!!!!!!! and ???????? is also rude, for the same reason. Another thing that is considered rude is spamming (typing the same thing over and over again).
We cannot see the face or hear the voice of the person we speak to, so we rely soly on their typing in order to get that extra information we usually get visually in a regular face to face chat.
The more you will be online, the more you will realize the importance of the subtle typing styles.

From my standpoint, it is just lazy.
By your admission, you said that you did so because it was "easier." Well that doesn't make it right. The shift key has been on typewriters--and now keyboards for computers--for many many years, and for a reason. The reason is because it is improper grammar to type everything in all upper-case letters, and you are expected to type it correctly. That's what we have English and typing classes for.

capitals normally means that you are stressing that point of what your saying so like...
what ARE you doing? is yelling at someone like what the F&%k are you doing
but
what are you doing? is just the simple what are you doing tonight
?????????? normally means sarcasim instead of just the ? which is a true honest question
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! means that you are really excited and in a really good mood! compared to the single ! which just means it's something your enthused about but it's not really gonna brighten your day
really "ettiquete" depends on each unique person ppl have to know who you are to understand you sometimes I write in all caps as well and people ask me why im screamin at em.....lol I make it very clear that it's just how I wanna read it and see it lol.

It just really depends on the subject matter at hand. If you just joy typing, it not a problem at all. However, if you typing for perhaps a company you work for or typing a resume` you would just type normally. Like for example, typing the little paragraph you did, it would be fine if you used all capitals. It once again depends just on who your audience is.

I guess it was good enough for the Romans (at least on monuments and such) but people nowadays seems to regard typing in all capitals as a kind of screaming.

All caps is used as a form of emphasis on certain words. So when someone is typing in all caps, it appears that they are trying to emphasize ALL their words, IE, yelling.
It is generally considered rude to yell in most social situations, and that simply carried over.

Not always considered rude yelling. It can be like OH MY GOD THE BEST THING HAPPENED TODAY!!! but even that is like being an anoying spaz! Plus it leaves nothing you can do if you REALLY want to stress a word. Good luck!

All things are based on trying to emphasize a point. If you are "shouting" or trying to get someone's attention then use capitals. Extra !!!! and ???? are not rude, they are again used to emphasize that you are either really enthusiastic about something or really confused.
