I am a Canadian citizen. Might be interested in purchasing a business, or starting one there.. but want to know if this is even possible, without a huge amount of funds?

Thanks for the webiste I have researched pretty extensively. However I should be clear that I do not have a huge amount to invest, it would take everything i have just to purchase something.. I know that many islands have a monetary limit that you much reach in order to be allowed to run a business and work there.. is this similiar in Dominica?? Also is there any type of job postings for the island etc?

This would be a good time to start a tourism related business on Dominica. We have many untapped resources on the island and its just a dream destination to start something on.

The Government of Dominica welcomes investment from all investors who are bona fide. Investment opportunities are available in hotel development, yachting sector, manufacturing and agro processing, information and communication technology, retirement tourism, time share tourism, ancillary tourism services (dive, restaurants, golf, marinas).

Government currently has lands available for the development of hotels, marinas and golf courses.

BTW: Dominica is a Dream to live on but be prepared to leave the major shopping malls and chain stores behind

This will depend how much funds you have, and what you want to do.
What is the Golden rule to Start business ?Have enough capital to survive for three years!
You should read the book "Dont Stop The Carnival"by Herman Wouk.
"Norman is swept into the realization of his mid-life crisis when exuberant Lester Atlas presents him with a fait accompli---money to become an island innkeeper, supervising one of the most charming money-makers on the fictional island of Amerigo. Norman soon discovers being an innkeeper is fraught with peril, but his misadventures will leave you laughing and longing for a quick trip to sunny Paradise."
If you don't know the Island, the locals, will try their best to take off you. All in good fun of course.
