I'm a dog freak. I would take her in, but it depends on how she would get along with your other dog and all. She is female and unless you already have a female, it may create some nasty situations you don't want to deal with. I have all males and the dog that came to me was a male too. He turned out to be a great addition to the family so I would say go for it. Make sure you check out the neighborhood to make sure no one is missing her. Some little kid could be missing his dog badly. Good luck!! DOGS RULE!!

I would call the local shelter or humane society to see if anyone has reported a lost dog, but take her in for the time, read the paper and maybe put a add in the paper that you found her. but make sure when someone calls to get her that there is some thing that you found( can be physical mark or something) or a character trait that you know and the owner knows so she goes to the right home.

If she has a collar with tag, you can usually find her owner from that. If not, I think you should take her in and run an ad in your local paper to see if anybody responds. If they don't, and you can keep her and take good care of her, do so, but if you can't afford care for 2 dogs, give her to somebody who will love her. You can take her picture and ask your vet to put her picture up to find somebody who wants her. Absolutely feed and water her while in your house or in your fenced yard. Does she look like she's been taken care of, like does she have a black glistening coat, any limping, responsive to being talked to, appears to be trained in some way, like can she sit, stay, fetch, does she bark a lot or not, is she scared? Just love her while you have her, as you would want anybody who found your dog to be good to it.

I would take her in. She knows you can provide for her and she's not going to leave now unless somebody takes her. You can often place an add for free in your local paper saying found etc.... I would try that and you will probably get calls from people who will want to adopt the dog as well. If you decide you don't want her try to find her a good owner to adopt her.

Aren't you noble? Post some flyers, black lab found...etc, where they can call you to describe her and her characteristics. Perhaps there is a family out there that sorely misses her. If no one responds to your AD you can take her in, but make sure that she gets a clean bill of health first. You don't want to put one FurBaby at risk to help another. You have a big heart just make sure it does not cloud your judgement. Best of luck.

I think you should just wait. The more you feed her, the more likely she'd stay. Have you called the local animal control to see if anyone is missing this dog? Maybe you could put up some notices stating FOUND: etc..

Hi, you just answered my question about the loss of my dog, well he died, not lost as in I can't find him.
To your question..., my Lucky was a lab mixed, and he was a stray that my dad brought home since I wanted a dog soooo bad.
I think you should take her in. Give her a good home, like I did my Lucky. She will definately love you.

Labs are very good creature. They can be taught real easily to get along with others, so you should take her in because she could become a real good pet.... trust me i have a black lab of my own, but first you should try to find her owner just in case she belongs someone...they might miss her.

KUDOS TO YOU
Take her in, but keep separated from your other animals. Call all local shelters and vets to describe her. Have the dog checked for a micro chip at the vets they do it for free. Fliers at the local supermarkets are great. All else fails you have a wonderful addition to the family.

You should get her vaccinated because it might have rabies or some harmful effect of some sort. Call the local vet and they will take and and get it vaccinated. Then you can choose if you want to keep it. If it has a tag, see if you can return it. Hope that helps!
