Time. Other than that, you never know, so, you just have to have faith. There are encouraging signs, like him acting happy to see you every day, him telling you how much he loves you, seeing thoughful gestures, seeing that he loves to be with you just taking a walk though the grocery store, hearing his friends say that he does.
I'd say it's easier to know and believe when your partner's love is NOT TRUE. And also, instead of looking to your partner only, look at yourself. Are you loveable? Do you let him be? Do you show respect and encouragement, interest in what he says, are you good to him? Love life and have joy in all you do, and only the one who does too will attract you. This same person will love you truly.

Love is trust. In fact, it is greater to be trusted than to be "loved". Anyone can get a chemical rush and think they've "fallen in love" with someone. Problem is, when that rush subsides, they stop loving that person. True love is evident when someone TRUSTS you with their very life. That trust shifts when neccessary into respect: they call you and they call you back, they don't allow people to bad mouth you, they LISTEN even if you're boring the heck out of them, tehy never threaten you with emotional terrorism. In a word, they are CONSISTENT.

it's up to you to know your partner's real intentions. whether you met the person through a common friend, bar or on webdate dot com, your partner's eyes tell what he/she really feels for you. take account of the actions, words and the time given to you.

You just know it when they walk in a room, you love them, and if they feel the same way about you, you know it's true.
That don't work, just ask them what they really think, they love you, you know it.
GOOD LUCK!

By thing they do, say...also when they do it and how they say it. Love is many things, you must know if he loves you or not but sometimes we are affraid to believe in the opposite (truth).
