It is likely that they want to be martyrs so that they can justify their faith and feel that they are doing something both difficult and important. The Atheists are co dependants and actually function as enablers in this.

Christianity doesn't lack humour - the mirror confirms that for me! : )
I am glad you don't hate Christians, but some do because a sincere Christian's lifestyle and/or beliefs often bring conviction and an uncomfortable feeling to the nonbeliever. After all, we believe in absolute truth in a culture that has rejected that notion and does not want to hear about such things.
Also, there is a verse in the New Testament that says to not be surprised when the world hates you, because it hated me (Jesus) first. A righteous person living in a fallen world, according to the New Testament, can expect persecution.
I certainly don't want or wish to be hated, but I have been (haven't we all?). I'm glad to hear you would extend friendship. I would do the same for you.

Don't know where you came up with the Idea that Christians feel they are hated. I'm a Christian, I don't feel hated, and other Christians I have come in contact with don't feel hated either.
You then go into hate against religion. And then, bring up religionist. Making fun of, satire, and humor. You say that's OK, I say be careful, and treat everyone the way you want to be treated. Don't compare Christianity with religion, they're not the same.
All Christians, all over the world, feel loved. They want you to feel that way too.><>

Because we are NOT just ridiculed. America is quickly becoming not the land where we have freedom of religion. It's any religion but Christian(Catholic and Protestant), Mormon, J Witness, and a few other faiths. Anything that we say or do publicly is taken like we are on some new crusade to destroy the other religions and dare we not speak of any of those religions in school for shame(even for history referances)! One nation under God should be taken out of the pledge! Intelligent design is just another way that Christians are trying to worm around evolution being taught in schools! I could go on with this list of sarcasm, but I'm very tired of people prosecuting my faith and others just because they are atheist or new age. If they don't tell me to zip it or lose it, I won't tell them to convert.

I'm a christian, but don't wish to be hated. I also do have a sense of humor. I've also found mocking and ridicule to be hateful activities. Try being the nerd in high school and saying that ridicule is not fueled by hate.

I am loved as a Christian, by the Divine Trinity and by my fellow Christians.
I could care less if the atheists like me or not.
I am blessed!
P.S. "Birth Control is for sissies"
That's Catholic humor.

A lack of humor in religion would mean that God Himself is not funny, but He is, He made you didn't He?
