Are you constipated? I have heard that red blood means that the blood is fresh, while black blood is old blood. Either case requires medical consultation. I have heard people talking about the same problem and some of them have had surgery for hemorroids.

Anal bleeding
Bleeding from the back passage is something that you should always see your doctor about, even if you are convinced it is piles or an anal fissure. The reason you need to be checked is that bleeding from the back passage can be a symptom of bowel (colon or rectum) cancer. If you don’t like the idea of being examined in that area, look at Seeing your doctor about an anal problem.
In general, if the bleeding is bright red and you have anal pain, especially when you pass a stool, it is probably a non-serious condition such as anal fissure or piles – but your doctor needs to make sure.
If the bleeding is dark red, or in clots, or mixed with a lot of slime, or mixed in with the faeces it could be a more serious condition (such as colitis, diverticular disease or cancer of the rectum or colon) that needs prompt treatment. Other symptoms that might be serious are a decreased frequency and/or hardness of faeces, or an increased frequency and/or looseness of faeces.

You need a colonoscopy. It's most likely polyps. When one breaks open they bleed a little and then stop until the next time they break. Most polyps are not cancerous. The doctor can remove it with the colonoscope. If left untreated they can become cancerous. I hope you have health insurance. It takes about an hour but the prep and recovery makes it a 3 or 4 hour outpatient procedure. It costs around $2000.

My friend was bleeding from his anus and went to the doctor. He had a foot and a half of his colon removed. This was eight months ago and he will be going back to work in two weeks. If he had not gone to the doctor the cancer would have spread. Go to the doctor and get yourself checked out.

It sounds like hemorrhoids which usually are not serious.
You need to go to your Doctor for a check-up in case it is something more serious.
It's not possible to give an accurate diagnosis with out your being examined.
Make an apointment and take care of yourself.
God Bless You, ;-)

This is a see a doctor situation because of the risk for colon cancer.
You could check the Internet for other causes which could include colitis and sprue, but the problem is that you can't determine the cause on your own and colon cancer is a killer.
- Not a doctor

the color of rectal bleeding can tell alot. in your case, light red means that you are bleeding in your intestines close to your rectum. the blacker/darker the blood, the farther away from the rectum your bleeding is. see a doctor asap. you could have a hernia, ulcer, or many other things. only a doctor can help

In all probability u have "hemorrhoids". Not very serious but u may need surgical intervntion.
If associated always with diorrhea and abdominal pain, it`s "amebiasis" or "bacillary dysentery".
Any G.P.will clear u r doubt.

go see an internist. Bleeding of unknown cause spells cancer. You may have some tumors in your rectum. Or maybe if you are gay you may have this anal wart that bleeds when touched.
