I mean who the hell cares? Why can't you people share your own opinions without quoting some stupid bible vers. that no one cares about? You have a mind, why not use it?
I can just see these people in a conversation. ( I bill, how are you?
Bill: The bible says, blah,blah,blah.
Oh, well then, who is your family Bill.
Bill: The bible says, blah blah blah.)
Here's my bible vers.
Think for yourself and question authority.
"Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities — the political, the religious, the educational authorities — who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing — forming in our minds — their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable open-mindedness, chaotic, confused vulnerability to inform yourself."
"Monotheism is the primitive religion which centers human consciousness on Hive Authority. There is One God and His Name is ------- (substitute Hive-Label). If there is only One God then there is no choice, no option, no selection of reality. There is only Submission or Heresy. The word Islam means 'submission'. The basic posture of Christianity is kneeling. Thy will be done. "

I refer to them if the question may call for it. Like if theres something someone wants to know about the bible that'd be a good time to refer to that. Or maybe to support a theory like I think this because it says this and give my own interpretation. It's the basis of the Christian religion. People who can't ever come up with something in their own words may not have an opinion of their own they just think and feel what the bible tells them to. Maybe its been drilled in their brains that that's the way it is there is no other way to explain it. Everything I believe and how I feel about certain things may not match up wit other Christians but I've taken time to think about what I want to believe and how I want to interpret things. I feel sorry for those who can't come up with anything on their own. Even when someone doesn't believe the same thing as me at least they have been able to think for themselves and come up with reasoning for what they believe and think about certain issues.

You sound upset. Why do you think that is? Could it be that you are having a struggle with wondering if there really is a God who created all things and to whom you will one day have to give an account of how you lived your life and the decision you made about whether or not to trust in the precious gift of his Son as payment for your sin debt?

I always think for myself and I always compare what the authorities instituted by mankind have to say to what God says. That's why I often use quotes from the Bible because I know that there I can find a repository of truth that doesn't change when people's opinions change as society evolves or devolves according to your opinion on the matter. Unlike scientific theories that get shot down after new discoveries come along the Bible remains a solid rock of truth that has withstood the assaults of intellectuals down through the ages.

Did you know that there is not one scientific FACT that contradicts anything in the Bible? There are many theories and logical arguments that run contrary to the word of God, but there is not a single provable scientific fact that does so.

You are as much of a non-thinker as any Christian. You blindly follow the dogma of atheism. You obviously have absolutely no understanding of what the Bible is or the importance of it in the Christian faith. I doubt you have ever read it. (Yet, ironically, you criticize Christians for not using their minds.)

I also suspect that you blindly follow anything anti-Christian more blindly and religiously as any Christian follows the Bible. You should turn you own power of questioning authority on the authorities that you follow. You are probably so naive that you don't even recognize the authorities that you have learned from and abide by.

As for using a mind, I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a medical degree and I've completed residency. I spent over 24 years in school, focusing mainly on science. Let me know when you have done at least that much and we'll talk again about being able to use our minds.

they are incapable of free thought. they are so convinced that the bible is 100% correct there is no arguing with them. they dont understand or care to hear that there could be flaws in the records, or, that it may have been documented by a bunch of crazies to begin with. they bible has been around for a long time, so there has been plenty of time to come up with an answer for every argument known to man. keep in mind , this also is the same group of intellects that much farther down the road in history were burning witches! i guess the gay community can be thankful that they are still evolving...as for " scientific fact " there is not a whole lot of evidence supporting their beliefs either.

god is my life and i shall answer how I feel like it - i am in a religious forum and I stay on the base topic if your offended because believers talk Bible I suggest you find a didnt forum to ask your questions. I do not tell you what to say i do not call you childish names i do not disrespect your beliefs and I do not tell you how to live your life. some of us believe in God we do not pick fun at you even though we have just cause we do not because we have respect. it is simple you do not like what you see or hear God blessed you with eyelids and fingers to close the holes up. I will speak about God all I desire not you or any other will dictate how I will answer questions. You are rude and you are childish and if you had a shread of common sense you will stop complaining and learn to accept people for who they are and not for what you want them to be.

Some Christians actually aren't Bible-maniacs, like me. I like the Bible to to squeeze every bit of wisdom from its pages, but I certainly can't quote it.

I take confort that many people agree with the basic laws set down by the government, but I would never follow something blindly, even if it's a notion of fasion or a religion full of radicals.

The "so called" Christians as you put it, and those familiar with the Word respond with scripture because that is the best way to answer the Devil. Those of us a little more versed can put the Bible in our own words and still keep the meaning of the scriptures in tact.

If you ask a question in the "Religion and Spirituality" section you should not be surprised, and certainly not angered, to get a religious or spiritual response.

Rev 12:10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: The salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Messiah have now come, because the accuser of our brothers has been thrown out: the one who accuses them before our God day and night.
Rev 12:11 They conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they did not love their lives in the face of death.

I don't know what you are talking about. We do think for ourselves. The way people live their lives is a matter of choice and so what if we quote verses from the LIVING WORD OF GOD? I thought we had the freedom of speech in this country. Besides, you are completely contradicting yourself. I hope you do find the truth someday, THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE, that is.

I dont know who youve been talking too, but that sure aint heck me!

Im a christian. I think for myself. I question thigns before I choose them.

And when asked specifically about what teh bible thinks about something, then I will quote a verse.

But if its a question of "what do you think" or "how do you feel" I will answer with my own words...

QUESTION FOR YOU: Why do you feel the need to be so judgemental and sarcastic? Give people respect for who they are. SET THE EXAMPLE.

bye.
