I wrote a paper on this in 2001... I've been predicting that Bush's failures in foreign affairs would bring up to the exact position you see today. The only thing that can save the world right now would be for a new superpower to step up and take over our global leadership position... probably China.

All countries are in 'rogue' mode atm. A new cold war has started as a direct result of Bush withdrawing from the anitballistic treaty in 2001 then his ignoring the rest of the world and flexing our muscles in Iraq. Countries don't know what to think of us now.

So yes, it is highly possible.

Good question and you got some really insightful answers. I believe this is WW III, we just don't know that it's going to be called that yet. I have said from the beginning this war is NOT a war on terror;it's a ideological war led by a demagogue (Bush) who is trying to spread American Imperialism to the world. His first target is taking out Muslims and to that end he'll look to support Jewish, Hindu and Buddhists faiths. And that's exactly what's happening. Israel bombing Lebanon? India gets bombed? In my worst case scenario; only two cultures will exist: Chinese and American. And the American part is being hopeful.

When I was a six-year old Army Brat living on a military post in Alaska way back in the late fifties and early sixties, we watched one of the first long range missile tests in history, a Nike missile, if I remember. When I asked my mother . . . who was holding my hand during the test . . . what the missile was all about, she radiated with pride and said, "That kind of missile will carry a bomb big enough to destroy a mountain." It was a nuclear missile test. (Back then, parents considered spending a Saturday afternoon watching nuclear missile tests with their young children to be quite wholesome.) Anyway, she then told me that Americans, my own tribe of man and neighbor, had already used such a bomb on two cities in Japan and that the new Nike bombs were aimed at the Soviet Union, just across the sea a bit from where we lived in Alaska. Well, aside from the shock of finding out that we humans would ever want to destroy a poor, defenseless mountain (remember, I was only six), I was alarmed to learn that Japan, where I was born as an Army Brat after the war, and the "Russians", whom I had come to love in Alaska (they had it before we did), were our intended targets. I remember slipping my hand out of my mother's hand that day, slinking off in shock and nausea, and vowing, with every cell of my body that I would begin, right then and there, to bring an end to war. Later that day when my mother caught on to my profound conversion to pacifism, she said, "Don't be ridiculous. There has always been war. And, there will always be war." She was absolutely wrong. War is a putrid, stupid behavior, a terrible, intolerable disease just as much as was once believing in human sacrifice, incest and cannibalism. I have kept that vow I made, to try to find a better way than war. The root of war is not the lust for domination. The root of war is subjugation of the masses through ignorance and magical thinking. When we humans can one day raise a large enough crop of children who can think clearly and critically for themselves, there will be no more war. When the masses get rational, they will not tolerate any such diseased behavior as the fetish of war. If you want to help bring peace to the world, learn to teach.

There will be a third world war. Absolutely no doubt it. Some one once asked Einstein a similar question.
His answer was " I do not know what the Third world war will be fought with, but I know that the Fourth World war will be fought with sticks and stones."
So human beings will survive the third world war and then have the fourth war to look forward too.!!!!!!!

No, I think the human race will continue to exist, for a while, anyway. We will kill many of each other, though, in our futile attempts to take out our latent aggressions on our neighbors. If the human race DOES cease to exist, most of the evil in the world would be gone.

We've already had World War III - it was called the Cold War and involved most of the planet. We are currently engaged in WWIV, the so-called "war on terrorism," which is a thinly-disguised crusade between the Christians, Jews, and Hindus on one side, and the Muslims on the other.

No. All will be done to prevent its happening for a long time. If one should happen it would be very short , atrocities on all sides would be enormous and large communities of peoples would be killed out. There will not be a third world war, or it may take another one hundred years before it happens.

the authentic question is, who's reaping benefits by the continuous promoting of this theory? a million. Political leaders who comprehend their approval rankings bypass up at the same time as there's a warfare. 2. tremendous corporations that receive in fact unregulated and doubtless endless funds to construct or safeguard the military. 3. non secular leaders who comprehend donations boost if human beings have self belief the accurate of the international is close to. 4. Oil organizations, who choose unrestricted get entry to to significant oil reserves contained in the middle East (why is it that wars everywhere else draw yawns, yet wars contained in the middle east make each human being initiate speaking about WW3?) absolutely everyone I ignored?
