I have a cast on and it isn't for a broken bone it is for a torn muscle, anyways when I was walking on it with out the cast it didn't hurt, and now that I have a cast on it it really hurts. So I was wondering if there is a way to adjust it by appling heat or water if it will soften it in any way. PLEASE help I am desperate. Thanks

No, you cannot alter the cast. See your doctor asap (call him and he will either meet you in the E.R. or send you there). If it is causing you pain, there is something going on that requires attention. If you are not keeping your casted part elevated, you could be in pain due to swelling. Prop that cast up and make sure it is higher than your heart. If the pain is relieved, swellling was your problem. If the pain is not relieved, you need medical attention!

Do not mess with the cast, if you were walking on it you probably hurt the muscle all over again. Go sit down and let the muscle heal. If you are in a lot of pain call your doctor and ask him to reapply the cast. You need to stay off the bad leg, it takes longer for a muscle to heal than a bone, you can't use it until the muscle is totally healed.

Your doctor put it there, the way it is for a reason. Nothing will soften it by the way. Theyre not like the old plaster casts. See your doctor on monday. Torn muscles arent something to mess with.

put an ice pack on, not heat. ice helps reduce the swelling u probably have, and what could b causing the pain as well. ice also takes some of the pain away...numbs it!

Why do you want to screw up what the doctor did? There is a reason he has MD after his name.
