No, but it sure was a deterrant when we were in school. I never personally knew anyone who got the strap, but the urban legends were infamous!

Like the one about putting a hair on your hand and then getting the strap would draw blood. I wonder if that actually works? I would think the hair would fly away when the strap came down. I don't think kids think too deeply about the likelihood of those things.

Heck, no! I was a good student, and obedient to my teachers. But, there is Divine Justice: I became a teacher in time. And, I only had to paddle a student twice (yeah, it was the same lout).

So, did they have to lay into you for something?
