Ok, so I've been in a diet for about 1 month now. I've been eating health and exercising like habit now. In 1 month I've lost about 20 pounds. Well this week, I've done nothing out of the usual (expect had 3 cookies, jesus, shoot me!) but certainly that isn't enough for me to gain 1 pound? What happened? Hopefully I can lose it by Monday (it's my next weigh in)
Why did I gain it? Have you gone through something similar?

I'm appreciating all of the responses that I am receiving. Just to let you know, I am absolutely NOT starving myself. I'm on a "diet" regimen. (Think Jenny Craig) I take in approx 1200-1300 calories each day. I exercise only 30 minutes a day (cardio). So I'm not doing anything excessively. Just thought I'd put that out there.

Weight fluctuates for a number of reasons. Namely:
1. where you are in your monthly cycle (there is a weight difference between the chemical composition of certain hormones),
2. water retention,
3. muscle gain due to exercise,
4. and even how completely you've eliminated your bowels.
20 lbs weight loss in one month is very rapid. A healthy weight-loss goal is 2 -2.5 lbs per week. Eventually you will plateau. When this happens, you will need to 'shake up' your food intake. Switch to different foods.
Also, be aware that with rapid weight-loss the pesky reality of 'starvation mode' will occur. What this means is that when the body loses weight too rapidly, the cells perceive a problem, specifically, you do not have access to sufficient food stores. Think of our pre-historic ancestors ... they would go through periods of feast/famine. As such, the body recognizes the reduced caloric intake and goes into a mode where the cells will hold on to all the food content that is provided. To avoid this, focus on a slower weight-loss plan.
Good luck, and don't freak out about one pound gained. It might well be additional muscle tone to those fabulous legs or biceps from all that exercise.

Don't count every pound. Become thin and you won't care what the scale says. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way you have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. So you are a victim of this pandemic (epidemic). You need to re-learn how to eat.
Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Plus click on "Pure Water" to make sure the water you drink doesn't hurt you. Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

If you are female, which it appears you are by your icon, perhaps it was water gain depending on your hormones.. or perhaps you hip the plateau phase where you have stopped losing weight but have gained muscle mass which is heavier than fat. It could be a lot of things, you certainly could try to lose it by monday by adding a couple extra minutes on to your work out and avoiding salty foods.

I've noticed this phenomenon as well as I'm freakish about weighing myself. Its all water weight and is easily lost. You could eat a salty pickle one day and retain a pound of water. Try to minimize the salt in your diet if you can. If you're drinking alcohol at all, you might want to stop as that leads to water weight gain as well.

Don't freak out. Weight gain/loss can fluctuate by 3 lbs. a day and that could just be water weight, muscle gain, etc. And besides, losing 20 lbs. in one month isn't healthy, either.

Homeopathic Treatment for Excessive Fat and Weight :-
PHYTOLACCA BERRY's Mother Tincture is perhaps the safest and sure fire way of loosing excessive fat around abdomen. With Phytolacca Berry once you loose the excessive fat and weight you don't get it back because you body takes care of itself after that and keeps you from gathering up excessive fat. It is prescribed after having a baby too, to get the tummy to loose its flab and to make it flatter and tighter. And after loosing weight with this you don't get flabby it tightens up the flab and skin along with helping your body to shed the excessive accumulation of fat around the girth
The dosage is 15 to 20 drops of the tincture in half a cup of hot water thrice a day half hour before or after meals.
Avoid Chocolates, Coffee, Mints, Red Meat and Carbonated and Alcoholic drinks while taking Homeopathic Medicines. You have to take it for at least 30 to 45 days after that you start to feel the results.
To the best of my knowledge its the safest and the most sure fire way of loosing fat and weight and keeping it of for keeps. Excellent remedy for Obese people who cant seem to shed weight despite trying.
Homeopathic Remedies can be found at all Major Herbal Stores or could be bought on line, In most of the world Homeopathic remedies are quite cheap and easy to find and they do not need a prescription.
Take care and God Bless !

If your are exercising more then you are probably gaining more muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. Measure your success by inches off not pounds and then it won't be as frustrating for you! Good Luck and keep up the good work!!

It's possible to eat less but gain weight. If you eat too little, or cut out the wrong foods, your metabolism will slow down and then you'll gain weight.
