According to a lot of invocations I hear at sports games, God roots for the Mavs, or the Heat, or whoever. I cannot imagine anything more petty, but maybe he bets souls on the game or something.
Others say he gets off on praise. That also seems small minded and intrinsically human.
others say he is happy when he is obeyed. Maybe -- but I bet he's happier when people THINK, then act in moral, ethical, and compassionate ways out of the goodness of their own hearts instead of the fear of death or punishment.
I know that I am happy when something I think is going to suck turns out OK AFTER ALL. I think if there is a god, he's looking at us all and saying, "come on, baby. make daddy proud. stop crawling and drooling take your first steps as a responsible, thinking creature."
6000 years of "civilization" and counting...

I believe the relationship with God & man is like any other relationship in the fact that the most important factor is unconditional love. Simply stated, as a parent I love my children no matter what. Even if they royally mess up & I'm angry at them at that moment, I do not ever stop loving them and wanting what is best for them. God, being our heavenly Father, is the same. He created us & loves us.... nothing we do can take that love away.
The Bible says "God hates sin, but loves the Sinner."
When we choose to have that loving relationship with Him, that is what makes Him happy.
Again, the same way a parent is pleased & proud of their child when the child turns to them with respect & adoration.

Well, just like we aren't happy 24-7 in our lives, I'm sure God isn't either. When He sees His children finding ways of causing pain instead of ways to help people in need, I'm sure he suffers a lot. But God obviously loves us. Unconditionally, in fact. He loves us so much that he gives us uncountable chances to live each and every day. He might get mad at the things we do, say, and think, but like a parent will never stop loving their child, so he never lets us go. He might seem distant at times, but if we make a conscious effort to love Him and love each other, He will show Himself in little ways and make your life better.

A humble heart.
He does exist and is near to all of us. He has promised if we humble ourselves and seek Him with all our heart and all our soul, we will find Him.
This process of finding God does not necessarily take the mind of a deep thinker (after all, God created us with many and varied gifts - especially in the area of intellect). He seems to value most a sincere faith in Him and His only Son (Jesus Christ) despite our circumstances or abilities, and a humble heart willing to love our neighbor as ourself.
In fact, He said if we do not become like a little child, in that respect, we will not find or enter the kingdom of heaven.

Yes a lot of mankind has turned away from God but, there are still people that have a relationship with God and there are still people that live by Gods word
People are just lazy, they want to do the easy and pleasurable thing, they dont want discipline, and they want to live how they want.

The only vice listed in the Bible was Jesus liked to get stumbling drunk in the street. God likes to gamble. There has to be times like this when man isn't the most important item on the radar screen.

well people only tend to focus on the negative aspects in the news media... war and violence sells... i believe that all of humanity is capable of being good and there are things in this world that make it a good place... there are people in the world who are kind, selfless, and generous... we just need to look past our differences to make this world a better place... and we shouldnt need to live according the happiness of god... when all of humanity is happy im sure your god will be happy as well
