If I was trying to explain the meaning of the word to a bunch of International students whose 1st language is not English, I'd make them picture:

Words & sentences flowing down a freshwater river-going thru rapids, and depths but never drowning or getting caught amongst the enbankment.
The river should illustrate flow of communication with- clarity (freshwater), succinctness, power (rapids) and effectiveness (never drowning or getting caught).

Is that the sort of response u were after???

The fewer words, the better said.

Or to violate that maxim, eloquence is the ability to use the fewest words necessary to clearly state or make a point.

Abraham Lincoln's letter to Mrs. Bixby is respected as a very good example of well-worded English:

When you walk by someone you really like...
When you touch a strand of someone's hair...
