Morotai (in the pacific)?

Question

My father served in the australian air force, on the island of Morotai during the 2nd World War, is there anyone who can give me any information about this Air force base, or anyone who served on this island during the war????

I'm sure it closed after the War. It was orginally a Japanese air base.
