The old saying goes that nice people finish last. Do you believe this is true. Will someone who sets out to help their fellow human beings always struggle to survive due to poverty or being taken advantage of?

Don't base everything on monetary things. Nice people get a large reward for being nice although the reward is not their motive. They are genuinely happier people who care more about people than their success.

Definitely. There are Nazis who lived wonderful lives for 40 years before it being discovered they were former Nazis. We have a b**** who works for our company who sued and made the company settle for $250,000 - not that she didn't have grounds, but she was the most UNDESERVING person to win such an award. What about the fact that people have enslaved other people since the beginning of time? The slave owners had their own lives and lived out their happiness until abolition while slaves lived in misery. Is that justified?? And just look at the rich and famous - many of them are obnoxious and stupid - while philanthropers only get notice here and there. Complainers are placated and quiet people get stepped on- and everyone thinks that's OK. We live in a "blame-the victim" society and everyone who gets charged as a criminal has lawyers screaming for their rights.

In general nice people do finish last. Nice means being pleasant and agreeable. Sometimes you have to stand up for yourself and that may mean being nasty. In competitive sports nice guys often due finish last. Cheating often succeeds. Same thing in business. Mike Milliken made 550 million on year by swindling people. He wasn't nice.

No, it is all a state of mind. If you blame every circumstance on being nice then you will begin to feel like you will always get used by being nice. In being nice you simply have to learn when to stop letting people use and abuse you. It is possible to be kind but also smart and firm when it comes to you beliefs and desires.

Yes, for the most part, the world considers kindness to be a weakness, and people will definitely take advantage of a generous person. That is why alot of churches that once had benevolence programs have closed their doors.
Pretty sad, isn't it?

No it's a bunch of fluff. Mother Theresa wasn't interested in getting rich at what she was doing. She just did it. No matter how "nice" you are hard things will come your way and it doesn't have anything to do with "Karma" either. That's a bunch of fluff too. When we try to do everything right with the motive that God will keep the hard times from coming to us we will be sorely disappointed.

No, thats not true. You do have to be careful not to let people take advantage of you. There is a big difference between helping people out and letting people take advantage of you.

Nope.

They usually finish last in the sprints and do quite well in the marathons.

Nice people finish. That's the important thing.

I think that "nice people" have a tendency to finish just behind the person or persons that they are being "nice" to. That is done by choice.

no, in the end, god decides who goes to heaven or hell. i would say that those people who are good will succeed in the end- heaven. those would push people around and belittle others will certainly finish last. i guess that a person "finishes" many times in their life, but, its the last time that really matters! :))
