Sorry to tell you this, but if you are allergic to cats, short or long hair doesn't matter. On the plus side, I am also allergic to most animals, but I do not react to the ones I keep at my own place. After a few weeks, I get used to that particular animal and am no longer sensitive to it. An allergy specialist can also do wonder nowadays.

If the hair is short at 4 to 5 months, your tabby is most likely a short hair. The long hair trait is completely separate from the color trait. so there can be short hair tabbies and long hair tabbies. Cats with the long hair trait (which is a dominant trait) will have longer hair from a fairly young age.

A Tabby Cat is a breed. They come in many colors. My tabby cat is a long haired. So far the ones I seen are long hairs and one short haired. It is either a long haired or short haired. I would go to the vet or PetsMart just to make sure. Good luck! :)

If it is 4-5 months, you already know!! Look at it!! Does it have long or short hair???????????
And a tabby is not a breed or anything, so we can't tell you from that!!!!!! You can tell by 8 weeks or sooner if they are going to have long hair.

Well, tabby is a color of cat, not a specific breed, and I don't think she'll have long hair. I'm wondering what you'll do with her if she does have long hair?

tabby's usually have short hair, but tabby is a generic name for cats that are not a specific breed. you are not allergic to the actual fur, but to the dander that collects on the fur when the cat cleans herself. Brushing your cat will help in removing some fur.

You should be able to see if it looks extra fuzzy or not. I think there are allergy wipes you can use on the cat, but check with your vet about how old the cat needs to be to use them. Also, my ex was mildly allergic to cats but he was ok with our medium haired cat as long as he didn't pat the cat then put his hand to his face before washing.
