Better to rein in hell than to serve in heaven is from Milton's paradise lost/ paradise regained, about book eleven I think and I think it is the devils line, As for john he was likely most tempted by thoughts of new clothes and a decent meal

It depends - who's offering?

More information please.

I don't know - it is a bit hot in hell though, but if I ruled there I suppose I could get A/C, spruce the place up a bit, brush all the ugliness under the rug or something - I don't care for all that suffering. Indeed if there is a heaven - then for me at least - It requires that there is no hell.

How can it be heaven knowing there is a hell? Mind control? Then why go to heaven if I can't be me? I think I have to put this question up.

To answer your first question, yes, it is much better to serve in Heaven, than to rule in Hell.

As for whether or not St. John the Baptist was tempted or not, I don't know. The Gospels do not say.

You might like to ask a Mandean that question. (Mandeanism is a small Middle-Eastern religion, which venerates St. John the Baptist as their Prophet).

Type "Mandean" in your search engine, & see if they will provide you with one of their websites.

Serve in heaven, if you please. Why would anyone want to be in hell...even if you rule you will still be in hell. Not very smart.

As I recall, the Bible does not record any of John's temptations...except to question at one point whether Jesus was the Christ to come or the Messiah.

Jesus said that John was the Elijah who was to come but that they (the disciples) did not recognize him. John came to prepare for God's Kingdom to come...Jesus fulfilled it.

Who knows what John the Baptist was tempted about. Heaven is an individual accomplishment and everyone is different.

Don't know what John's temptation was, but Satan will do just about anything to tempt you and has deceived a lot of people already. As he hates God, he hates man also as we are made in His image, even the ones who do the works of Satan or Satan worshippers. They will have no special place in Hell either - I guess they are just easy prey.

I don't know what other "offers" he might have recieved, but when I get to Heaven maybe I will ask him. I wouldn't even want to think about "ruling" in Hell, what would you be ruling?

To answer your question literally, neither. To answer your in relation to the details, I would say to be portrayed as the Messiah, as he easily could have led his followers to believe. To be a religious idol is a huge temptation in itself, maybe even bigger, than half the kingdoms on earth.

Umm, well, Jesus already rules here on Earth, so I don't really get your point.

No one rules in hell, cept satan.

If you are a servant then you serve. Nobody rules in hell, they just suffer..
