What did you really think when you saw your baby for the first time? When I saw my twins I had a C- section after a short amount of Labor and thye did not hold them up like in the movies and they were healthy and all but the nurse said let her see them before she leaves (my hubby was there) and I saw them both and thought, gee they look nothing a like. Then I asked my hubby if he remembered what they looked like. Cause I only saw them for a second before I went to recovery and that was rough...........

lol...The first time I saw my daughter I kept saying, "she's so beautful and perfect." I marveled at her tiny fingers and features and thought she was the most gorgeous thing I had ever seen. I didn't realize how drugged up I was until I got her first pictures in the mail a few weeks later...then I saw a cone-headed, splotchy, squinty-eyed little bologna loaf. Luckily, she grew out of it and is a beautiful 8 year old!

Awww, you're bringing back such warm memories for me! :) Ryan is now almost 4. He was born by c section also after quite a few hours of labor. I was shocked that he only weighed 5 pounds, 13 ounces. I thought for sure he'd be a big baby. Even the doctor was surprised! When he was born I was also surprised that he didn't look all red and pruny like some new borns do. He was beautiful! And his eyes were wide open and he kept them open for 4 hours afterwards. That just amazed me!!! And all the black hair was a surprise. I had pictured him as either having blonde or being a baldie. He is blonde now by the way! Oh thanks for the great question!!!!

Honestly, the very first thing I thought after the c-section was that she wasn't 'done cooking' yet. My first son was 9 pounds and almost 22 inches long and looked about 2 months old. My daughter was 6 pounds and 19 inches and so petite that I thought she wasn't ready to be born. Of course, after that shock, I thought she was perfect and beautiful!

The first thing I looked at and saw in my daughter was that she had my grandmother's hands, and I was thrilled.

With all my kids, my first thought though was that they looked more like old people than new ones, and I was able to identify traits that connected them with the older members of my family more easily than the younger ones. Now that they're older, I can compare them to pictures of the oldsters at young ages, and see that what I noticed at their birth really was true. Your newborn self looks very much like you will look in the last days of your old age. I think that is a fascinating concept.

The first thought that came to my mind when I first saw my son was "OMG I did this? This is MY son? WOW he's so BEAUTIFUL!!"

It was this amazing feeling of awe and love.

Sure, I kind of expected as much, but still wasn't prepared for the enormous amount of emotion.

I had mine vaginally, but didn't care about the mess. I just knew I didn't want to let go. They had to wrestle with me to let go just so they could clean him up. But when they did bring him back, I wouldn't let go for hours. We fell asleep together for the first four hours. Then he woke up really hungry!!! LOL
I just laughed a kind of laugh I never thought possible.

My son is now seventeen and I'm still amazed that this is MY KID!! He's a really great young man and I'm so very blessed...this comming from an agnostic!

I also had a c-section and I got to see her for a few minutes before my husband carried her out of the operating room and my first thought when I saw my daughter was that she was beautiful.

i remember i birthing classes the teacher said don't expect your baby to look like the gerber baby when it comes out. But, when my daughter was born, the first thing I thought was that she lied, my baby did look like the gerber baby. I thought she was beautiful. I constantly get comments on what a beautiful little girl she is (she's 5 now), but I'll never forget the way she looked after she was born.

I had a c-section too and i didn't see my son i would say i guess about 2-3 hours later cause they was trying to get his body temp up. But when i seen him it was love at first sight and i could not believe he was mine.
I un-covered him and looked to see if all his fingers and toes were there and looked him completly over. I couldn't believe it though....It is a feeling really words can descibe.

I couldn't believe a breathing baby just came out of me (had a vaginal birth)... and he was perfect. No wax, no mishapen head, no wrinkes, very pink, and just some blood. Still can't believe he fit in there all huddled up! My second is due in a few months... and I'm sure I'll be just as amazed.

I did vaginal and when they put arm son in my arms, I know it is horrible but I thought to myself "couldn't they have wiped him first?" Then I started thinking about how he had just came out of me. I was weirded out by that.
