I used to be really lax about wearing a seatbelt. Then I got into an accident, and, thankfully, I was wearing it. A young girl who was too busy looking in her rear-view and applying eye make-up, rear-ended my car. The impact was so great it shoved my car over 600 feet into traffic coming from right and left angles, broke both seatbelts out of the wall, buckled the frame, and bent my bench front seat into a V. I am disabled today due to lower back injuries received in spite of wearing my seatbelt. Had it not been for the seatbelt, I would have died November 1, 1990. My baby would have been 18 months old. She's now a beautiful high school senior and I'm so glad I didn't have to miss it. Seatbelts are a pain in the drain but worth every effort. I always buckle up before I even start my car.

Who would have thought that a deer running into the road and hitting me instead of me hitting it could cause such an accident? The deer ran right into the side of my car. Took the drivers side mirror clean off and then continued into the car's rear quarter panel.

A long story short, I lost control of the car and was sliding perfectly sideways down the middle of the road. Slowing quickly, I was very surprised when suddenly the car grabbed the road and threw itself onto it's roof. Never even touched the side of the car! The sunroof glass disintegrated and the only thing keeping my head from being ground to bits by asphalt was my seatbelt.

However uncomfortable they may be, they are designed to keep your body in the seat and behind the wheel where you have the only chance of keeping control of the car. Another lesson I learned that night... When you get inverted, all the junk in your car floats around with you including the floor mats. Each and everything in the car turns into a missle in a wreck!

I don't wear it cause it rubs accross my neck. When I get my van back I will start wearing it again. My car has an air bag but I think both are safer when used together

Why are you addressing this to women?? It's mostly men who don't wear their seatbelts.

And, don't worry, I wear mine all the time!
