There are many types of competition available to your mixed-breed (or "All American") dog. An excellent starting place to find out about them is http://www.dogplay.com/MuttsOnly/index.html

There are also many clubs available to you - and one in your general neighborhood at http://members.tripod.com/mbdca/mbdc_california.htm

Have fun!

Competing is the ONLY bad thing about having a mutt. I adore my mutt, he's one of the best dogs I've had. The downside, can't compete in any AKC events. Try finding UKC events. Another great thing to do with your mutt is to get them Therapy Dog Certified. You can check the TDI website for testing in your area. If your dog is well trained, I would give it a shot. Otherwise, I would enroll in an Intermediate (or work your way up to an Intermediate level) and then go try the test. It's soooo easy! If your dog can sit, down, stay, come, leave food alone, loves strangers, and doesn't mind wheelchairs, crutches ect...then you are set to go!
