Middle school is tough. The good new is that you will not see those people in college.

Don't worry about what the other kids say. They are all conforming to what everyone else is doing. You are you, do what is right for you. Right now their opinions may seem to matter but you will find they really don't. I'm 33 years old, I have done drugs and I still smoke. I have tried to quit smoking, but it is very very hard for me. Sometimes I feel like I will back slide on the drugs if I don't smoke. Trust me it's not worth it, it's not "COOL." I have been clean now for 11 years and if I could go back I would have never done it. I know it is really tough at your age but it will get better. Ask them if it is "COOL" to die of emphazima, caused by smoking. Also is it "COOL" to waste your life doing drugs. Talk to your counselors at school they can really help. Your parents should be your #1 supporters talk with them, as bad as it seems they are the best support you can get.
All and all be yourself, be happy with yourself and be healthy.

Middle schoolers think they are so grown up and cool if they do things like smoke or drink.. In the real world we call those people losers. First of all those things are totally stupid. Im sorry your going through this. Middle school is hard. Stay true to yourself. If you are strong and dont conform then you are probably in the lesser amount. Thats what makes it so cool! Even if people call you that, most of them respect you for it (they are just too afraid to say anything). You have probably influenced people without even knowing it. Hopefully someone will get the guts to stand up to these kids like you have. Take it from a Junior in High School, you are way cooler than they are. Its nice to know there are still people like that around. Keep this up in life and you will go far. It may seem hard now, but one day you will be so proud of yourself and so thankful you didnt conform. Your totally cool in my book.

You have 119 very DUMB kids in your school!! You are by far, the smarter, and BETTER of all of them. Don't Do It! Just say "no thanks" and walk away. The longer you stick around the more you leave yourself open to their stupid ridicule. As them if they had an extra bowl of "stupid" this morning? That may shut them up. And then smirk and walk away with your head held high.

Ask your parents to help you find a group of kids you can be comfortable with. Is there a Boys & Girls Club nearby? Maybe check for a local Girl Scout office where you can spend your time helping a Group Leader with a troup.

Is their a Church nearby that has a youth group you can join? You will learn life skills that will give you the confidence you need to stand your ground against your classmates. You will be so much farther ahead of the game!

In middle school a lot of kids start to act out, kind of like the "terrible twos". LOL!!!
Once you get to high school it will most likely get better. As you get older there is less pressure to fit in because you will find your own niche.

For now just do your own thing and ignor the idiots who are doing drugs and smoking. Smoking can kill you and there is a reason drugs are called "dope".

Personally I think YOU are the cool one! You are smart enough and confident enough to be your own person and not go along with the crowd.

What the kids in your middle school don't realize is how much harm they can cause themselves in the future. These kids are not considering several things:

1) Smoking gives you nasty breath!

2) Smoking makes your clothes, hands and hair stink!

3) They have found in studies that the younger you start smoking the more likely you are to be a smoker for life.

4) The risks of getting lung, mouth, tongue, and voice-box cancer are very real - who wants part of their tongue missing, a hole in your throat to breath through, or to have to talk with those electronic devices?

I think you are more mature and smarter than these kids by not smoking. Don't let them talk you into doing something that could hurt you long term!

I think you're cool cos you're making your own decisions & resisting foolish peer pressure!

What isn't cool is having smoker's breath which smells like an ashtray, staggering around drunk, making a fool of yourself & waking up the next morning with a lousy headache and a mouth that tastes like the bottom of a birdcage!

One other thing "Once a smoker, always a smoker!" If you start & manage to stop, you'll always live with cravings.
By the way, I'm a smoker and I really regret succumbing to the pressure of the 'cool kids' at school!

It's hard to believe that the majority of kids drink and smoke. Does your school administration realize this? Anyway, don't worry about being cool. Do what you know is right. In the end, the people who matter will respect you.

They're saying it because they're addicted and they're jealous of your freedom. Don't worry, you'll go much farther in life if you stay away from that stuff. Not just health-wise, but socioeconomically as well. Kids that smoke and drink and do drugs are more likely to have unprotected sex, contract STDs, have kids too soon, drop out of school, and live on welfare. Stay the course and you'll be the one to make something of yourself.

omg dont listen to them. not doing those things makes you the better person, and those things can ruin your entire life. think of your future if you ever consider drugs or alcohol, because if you do it, then you wont even have a future. too many people at my school do that too, and they are going nowhere in life. i cant stress this enough... stay away from those people, and even if you are having a hard time now, eventually things will get better, and you will make friends that are clean. and just for the record, that doesnt make you a nerd. please take what i said to heart and stay away from that stuff.
