I have four dogs. Two of my dogs behave normally, but the other two have strange eating habits. My dalmation, Anjelaca eats ants. There are a lot of ants where I live, I have no idea why, but she sits outside and she eats them. My maltese AnneClaire eats rolliepollies (i don't know if that's the correct name or not, nut that's what i call em). We don't have many of those, but at night, when I'm sitting outside, a few will be on the steps and she'll eat them. It's totally gross to me, and my two other dogs don't eat bugs at all. I was just wondering is it okay for dogs to eat bugs?

I have had dogs all of my life,
They all eat bugs.
They learn which ones they like and the ones they don't.
A little Silky lived to be 21 years old, we Nicknamed the 'Bugger'
He was better than the 'Orkin man', he allowed no bugs to grace his presence.

We have Min-pin that makes a big fuss, letting us know she has found a bug, after we take note of it she will eat it, as if to say "I am a great hunter and found my own meal."

Our Lab looks at her as in disgust. (she ate them as a puppy.)

It is a waste of time to try & break them of it.
It does't seen to hurt them

I don't know which bugs are poisonous but my dog eats bugs too. I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter unless that's all they eat. They should be fine if they're eatin their regular dog food too. My Rottweiler eats all kinds of bugs, from flies to ants, to little beetles. They'll be fine, afterall they are animals. I think they just get annoyed of the little things moving around and it's like entertaining to catch em.

You're lucky! Bugs only. My dog loves eating my stash. (Marijuana, to put it plainly) She gobbles it down like it's prime steak, then barks at me for hours, as if it was my fault. Finally, she plops down on the sofa and sleeps for three or four days. And don't try to move her, she gets very belligerent.
She has developed a keen sense of smell for the stuff, and no matter where I hide it, she finds it. I think I should give her to the anti-narcotics police.
And the winds she let's fly while dozing on the sofa!
But I love her.

my terrier mutt has been eating flies for years. Bugs are just a different form of protien. Some cultures eat bugs. Just hope they don't find a taste for bees lol

Nothing wrong with an animal eating insects. They are too tiny to harm them and will be pooped out eventually.

It most likely won't hurt them, unless the bugs in question are stinging insects.
