My dog has an ear mite infestation that has been the cause of an infection for over a year now. My father says the infection smells like gangreen.

We continue to apply a cream to her ear but she does not seem to be improving, in fact, she is only getting worse. Are there any better treatments for my dog?

Take her back to the vet ASAP. If it's gangrenous, she'll need to be put on antibiotics and possibly have other treatments prescribed.

It is rare for a dog to get ear mites. she has probably had an ear infection that started out with some brown or black dirt like substance and shaking her head and scratching at the ear. and when the ear was not cleaned with an ear cleaner and antibiotics it turned into a yeast infection. the yeast has a strong stench to it. Please take your dog to the vet. Because it can become so bad that the ear canal completely closes and then she gets a head tilt which is called vestibular. she needs meds. bad.

cream or ointment will only keep it moist. It needs to be dried ... You can try cleaning all you can with a Q-tip and then mix rubbing alcohol and vinigar together. half and half .. and try flushing it out. The alcohol will help to dry it.
Happy Jack Co. also sells an ear Canker Powder that will dry it.. Or you could use swim ear for people. It might be a fungus infection-Or yeast infection in her ear.
It is hard to believe that ear Mites would still be the problem after a year...

Yes. Take her to the vet. They'll probably have to anesthetize her so they can go in and get the infection out, then give her antibiotics. A year is way too long to have an infection.

Good luck!
