I have three favorites.
This verse brings tears to my eyes:
"I spent 20 years trying to get out of this place
I was lookin' for something I couldn't replace
I was runnin' away from the only thing I've ever known
And like a blind dog without a bone
I was a gypsy lost in the twilight zone
I hijacked a rainbow and crashed into a pot of gold
I've been there, done that, I ain't lookin' back at
The seeds I've sown, saving dimes, spending too much time on the telephone...
Who says you can't go home... " Book of BJ 1:1
And this one brings me great solace:
"I'm 15 for a moment
Caught in between 10 and 20
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are..." Book of 54F 1:1
Third in the list, but my all time favorite:
"And when your fears subside
And shadows still remain
I know that you can love me
When there's no one left to blame
So never mind the darkness
We still can find a way
'Cause nothin' lasts forever
Even cold November rain..." Book of GnR 3:1

That is a good thing. I don't have just one verse that gives me peace. I will share with you the Gospel message, which is what the Bible is all about, and That gives me peace. Here it is:
We are all sinners, nobody is a good person. We've all broken God's moral laws, for example, we've lied, disobeyed our parents, not put God first in our lives. These are just some of God's moral laws. When we die God will judge us by His standards and on our own we will all be guilty, and therefore we deserve to go to Hell. The thing is that God provided a way for us to be forgiven, so we can be with Him for eternity in Heaven. Jesus Christ died on a cross and rose again to pay the debt for our sins, and take our punishment. What we must do to take part in His gift of forgiveness is to Repent, which means to say we are sorry for all of our sins, and ask Him to help us to turn away from our sinning ways, and then put our total trust in Jesus Christ. Only then will Jesus accept us, and we will be granted Eternal life with Him in Heaven, not because we are a good person, but because we are a bad person who's been forgiven. If you have any questions about this just contact me.

Isaiah 40:22
It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
Ya know, it's such a little part of the bible, but it says hey....God knew the earth was a circle when humans knew it was flat.....
Ohhh and for the ones before us, that thought a dude held the earth up.... the bible just let us know.....
Job 26:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
Okay, well, the bible tells us no, the earth is held by nothing...which space exploration proved.....
Anyway, these are 2 versus that get me...because they were written so much before modern science discovered them.

I am a Muslim and i have bible for comperitive study : and found following bibile verses very interesting in contrast with what church teaches. because church teaches Jesus (peace be upon him) was God but Bible says the opposite.
"Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord."
[The Bible, Mark 12:29]
"Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know."
[The Bible, Acts 2:22]
"And behold, one came and said unto him, ‘Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?’
And he said unto him, ‘Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.’ "
[The Bible, Mathew 19:16-17]
"I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour."
[The Bible, Isaiah 43:11]
"I am Lord, and there is none else, there is no God besides me."
[The Bible, Isaiah 45:5]

My own personal favorites come from the book of Proverbs. Chapter 31, verses 10 through 31 are my favorites. It's called The Wife of Noble Character. It teaches how a woman of noble, or virtuous, character should act, and it helps me daily to be the best wife I can be.
Whenever I need comfort I read Psalm 23, you know it, "The Lord is my Shepherd...". It helps me to remember that He loves me so much that He takes good care of me.
Of course, the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John contain the words of Jesus, and daily I get something new from His word.

I believe the book of Revelation is the absolute crowning book of the scriptures in existence today. Here, Jesus Christ is in the midst of the seven lampstands (or churches), Jesus Christ has the keys to hell and death, Jesus Christ has all power on heaven and earth. In effect, Jesus Christ is Jehovah God in a visible body. When Jesus was still going through His combats with the hells, Jesus talked of Himself as the truth apart from the good. However, when Jesus was glorified, Jesus speaks as Himself as fully God (or the marriage of good and truth).
Another tip: the internal sense of the Bible is all about the Lord and His relationship with the church. Not of interest to some people and it shows.

in case you've faith Jesus & God are 2 separate persons & you prefer to worship them wisely, then you ought to go back to Jehovah's Witnesses. Do you even believe that idols/statues are incorrect in places of worship too? maximum church homes have them or a minimum of have crosses on the outdoors. In view of Exodus 20:4,5, this is something for you to imagine about, and give some idea to how God perspectives it. Jftr... Jehovah's Witnesses actually do no longer hate gays & we not in any respect ever call them 'evil' (as you implied) The Bible obviously condemns homosexuality. that's amazingly sparkling what God's perspectives on the gay act is, so this is the action this is abhorrent ... no longer the guy. Many homosexuals have certainly rejected their former way of existence & replaced & grow to be authentic worshipers. So, you've a call ~ you are able to both come decrease back to the truth, or you are able to search for to have your ears tickled by some religious those who will inform you that homosexuality is pleased with God even although the Bible obviously shows us that it is not.

"How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you." Psalm 139:17-18
To be honest, for peace, the entire Psalm 139 is incredible because it shows how much God loves us (the key to having real peace is knowing God Almighty loves you).
(By the way, the eye for an eye thing was referring to accidents that happened where someone's eye was put out. It really has nothing to do with judging but with reparation when we cause harm to someone else. Many people use it incorrectly to expect revenge, but it was intended for reparation.)

the first part of your question envolves the fact that while you may attend a christian church they are still preaching the old testament instead of the new mostly which causes quite a bit of confusion as to what is right and wrong.
favorite verse: jesus says that if you can not find me within yourself you will not find me without.
