I would say no. They are two seperate and different point of views, therefor will not merge into one. There will often be a cooperation between the two on different points.

--is Catholic--

(Tough answer follows)

It is impossible. Mormons are not Christian, even though they say they are. They do not worship the Trinitarian God so they cannot be Christian. At the institutional level Mormonism is not a Church and thus cannot merge, but rather must be abandoned. At the individual level, Mormons must accept the Trinitarian God, be Baptized, and enter into the Communion of the Church (Acts 2:37:44).

The Catholic Church might work with Mormons on social projects according to the common good, but not on matters of Faith as Mormons do not believe in the Revelation of God that the Catholic Church guards and proclaims to the world. (it is specifically repudiated in their texts). Catholics are taught to pull what is good from Mormonism and correct what is bad.

Might I suggest reading the texts of Mormonism and comparing them to

The Catechism of the Catholic Church
Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma by Ott
The Christian Faith by Dupuis

When you do, then you will understand.

My point of view would be never! The Catholic and Mormon faith are based on 2 entire theories. I'm not a Mormon or a Catholic, but my daughter is Mormon, and they do not believe in abusing your bodies with alcohol for sure as the Catholic do, and they do not believe in the concept of free sex with anyone, and just go to confession for forgiveness, and back out of Saturday night for more.About the only thing you have in common is the reproduction of life. My daughter has 2 children, and she will not have anymore, so there goes that theory. My son in -law & daughter don't believe that you should not have more than you can provide for.So the answer is no, and I hope not, for my sake that they don't. I'm a Baptist and my beliefs are quite different than yours and my daughters, but thats what makes up the mulititude of religions. Right????

Here is a story that perhaps will illustrate when that merger will take place.

A cardinal bursts into the residence of the Catholic pope and exclaims, "Father! I have news! There is both good news and bad news. Which do you wish to hear first?"

The pope says, "Tell me the good news first, my son."

"I've just received a telephone call saying that Jesus Christ has returned to the earth to rule and reign for a thousand years!" says the Cardinal.

"That's wonderful!" the pope exclaims. "What could be better than that! After that, how could there be any bad news?"

"The bad news is," stammers the Cardinal, "the telephone call came from Salt Lake City Utah."

Nope. Definetly not. We don't do the Saint thing and they don't do the Book or Mormon. And to the guy that posted this. . .

I am SO flipping sick okf people saying that we are not Christian! The name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Christians believe in Christ, and we do, therefore we are Christians. If you want to argue this anymore, e-mail me.

In context, no. Both have their differences, and when you think about it, all that will happen is nothing short of a huge conversion party, with both sides trying to covert one another. My opinion is that both should keep open minds about their different beliefs...then again, I'm Catholic, and my boyfriend is Mormon, so I'm biased. :-P
