Humanity has always been a mess, it's not just modern America. When people are living in the Vine, (the Holy
Spirit) and have entered into the transformative process of dying to the sinful nature and embracing the new creation, then there is hope of actually seeing Christ in them. Then they will bear the fruit of righteousness. Until then, it's still the flesh. The flesh has good moments and bad moments...but it never gets off the ground. Not all modern conservatives use Christ to spread hatred...there are a lot who are living in the Vine, and spreading His Light. They're actually helping to bring revival in. So, all is well.

Mainstream Christianity is full of False-Converts, who were brought in by a twisted and inaccurate Gospel message that is very common these days. Here is the True Gospel.
Have you ever told a lie, stolen anything, used God’s name in vain? These are just a few of God’s Moral Laws. When you die, God will judge you on the basis of His Moral Law. If you stand guilty before God of breaking His Laws, He will send you to Hell. If God is Just and Holy, He must punish lawbreakers. The good news is that God provided a way for you to be forgiven and go to Heaven. Jesus Christ died on a cross and rose again to pay the debt for your sins and take your punishment. What you must do is Repent, which means to say you are sorry to God and turn away from your sins. Then put your complete Trust in Jesus Christ. Only then will you be accepted into Heaven, not because you’re a good person, but because you’re a bad person who’s been forgiven. Please give this some thought. Your Eternal Destination depends on it.

Blame the Gospel of John. I'm serious. Whoever wrote this book perverted the teachings of Jesus. It certainly wasn't the apostle John. It was a Gentile religios zealot trying to gain power by advocating that his concept of Jesus was correct to the exclusion (and damnation) of all others. The condemnation language found in John isn't in the other three Gospels, which obviously form a better representation of who Jesus was (because of corroboration). John turns Jesus into a boastful traveling magician who performs miracles just to prove he's God, not necessarily to help people. John presents Jesus's entire purpose as trying to convince people that he's God and that he's the only way to salvation. That's not what Jesus's ministry was about. Jesus taught a correct way to live, and he HEALED people. He didn't turn water into wine, or ignore people's requests for healing for four days just so he could make a bigger show out of raising someone from the dead. He didn't do anything spectacular FOR SHOW. He did everything he did to help people. The Jesus presented in John is not Jesus. But most Christians believe the Book of John, and many even sanctify it as the greatest and most beautiful of the Gospels. But the Book of John is the reason why many Christians look down upon everyone else and act bigoted. It's because they believe that God told them they were right and everyone else was going to hell. It's unfortunate that a ridiculous zealot like John could convince so many people over the years to do so many awful things in the name of Jesus.
Read the gospels straight through, in order, if you haven't. You'll understand why I'm making this argument about the Gospel of John. You can't get a sense of why this book is invalid simply by pulling singular verses out of it. You have to read the scripture wholistically and thematically. The historical devotion to Bible verses as singular elements is another reason why many Christians are missing the point about Jesus's message. Jesus taught us how to treat each other. He was a gentle person. He was not boastful...in fact, he was nearly the antithesis. The synoptic accounts of Jesus's ministry make this obvious. It's a shame the Gospel of John was included - it only undermines the other three gospels.

I think you are completely wrong here. Modern, American Christianity by and large is not corrupt and is not using Christ to spread hatred.
Oh, sure, some do that... but the ones that do certainly are not a part of the mainstream church movement in the US of A. Even they don't place themselves as a "mainstream church movement."
So I really believe that you are totally wrong in even asking this question.

I understand your point and I agree. However, we need to find a level functioning way. Sometimes people equate discipline and knowing the difference between right and wrong as being judgemental/bigoted. Judging a sin does not mean judging the whole person. So we need a healthy balance between what you said compassion ("understanding")and what I just pointed out- "right judgement".
The Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit:
Wisdom
Understanding
Right Judgement
Courage
Knowledge
Reverence
Wonder and Awe of the Lord

enable me in simple terms remind you that the out of wedlock teenage start cost is larger in the U. S. than in Europe, as is the crime cost and the imprisonment cost, notwithstanding Europe is definitely a ways a lot less religious. There are literally all the different issues that you aspect out. and far of human beings, believers in non-Christian religions, and nonbelievers, ought to question the idea that the "actual spirit" of the religion that gave the international the Crusades, the Inquisition, and the sixteenth and seventeenth century Wars of religion is any extra constructive than "only a ordinary humanitarian sentiment". Correlation does no longer inevitably mean causation (lunch does no longer reason dinner), notwithstanding it does make you're taking under consideration even if that is authentic that faith makes you extra moral.

Don't know where you have been hanging around, but I haven't seen any of that approved by any of the churches I know of or have attended. Sounds you need to look for a different one if they are teaching trash like that there. Shouldn't be hard because there are thousands of excellent Christ-loving and other-loving churches out there.

It's not just Christians, but all religions and the nonreligion.
However religions are not corrupt
The reason people think that religion is corrupt is because the people in religion that are corrupt are speaking more and louder then the ones that are not.
