What is the difference between a person who is 5'5" weighing at 110 at the age of 18 and 11?It doesn't make sense to me. Should the person weigh less at the same height because they are young? I think all should be at a healthy weight.

yes luvv, there is a difference. the older you get the slower your metabolism gets. As a result, the "ideal" weight varies with age... and height for that matter. A 4'11 person weighing 200 lbs is considerably less healthy than someone 6'2".. . anyway, the "experts" cut older people some slack as their age hinders their ability to keep up with the weight expectations of younger people.

At the age of 18, a person's metabolism might be slower, they've become fully developed, and for the most part, they've pretty much stopped growing. At 11, a person is still undergoing puberty, and increased hormones can cause weight loss or gain unexplanitorily. The ideal weight for someone fully developed might be slightly more than for someone who isn't.

This stuff is just fed to you by some self serving scientist paid by the government blowhard.

Next week he will tell you how many ounces of non fat milk to drink. He gets paid to make stuff up. If he doesn't he is out of a job.

Relax, get a beer and watch tv for awhile. You'll feel better, fattty!

its all about whether you have stopped growing i think. an 11 year old has quite a bit of growing to do whereas an 18 year old has not so much growing to do. i think it takes into account that you will grow into your body if you are under 20ish, because you haven't stopped growing.

Because your metabolism changes as you get older.
