whether or not something is healthy doesnt matter... i believe its the parents fault that the kids dont like the vegetables. the reason is that most parents "make" children eat things... and that in turn causes kids to have negative thoughts about the food they are being forced to eat.
when i was little my mom used to try to make me eat zucchini, and i always hated it... as soon as i grew older and she wasnt yelling at me about it, i tried it and loved it. my husband had the same problem, his dad used to make him eat tomatoes... and till this day, he wont give them a chance.

think about anything you didnt like, that your parents made you do, and you will realize that the fact that they would try to enforce things upon you only made those things worse in your eyes.

plus, if kids dont like things one way, you can cook it for them another way, so that they can give it another chance.

my kids didnt like broccolli, until i cooked it with butter and a little bit of garlic salt and pepper. then they loved it, and now they will eat it raw, or with ranch dressing. you gotta figure out what they like, and if maybe, you are doing something wrong.

i also realized that if i say i dont like something, my kids will also say they dont like it.

It's all in how you are fed when you grow I up. But some things really just don't taste good to some people. My son eats spinach pizza (I can't even stand the smell or look of the stuff) because I told him it was Hulk pizza and would make him strong. He loves broccoli and carrots. I don't know how I got him to eat these things but I think ranch dressing and cheese has a lot to do with it ;). I do take him to fast food places but he doesn't get french fries and he drinks ice water most of the time.

As I type this he is eating a granola bar...along with half a bowl of whipped cream...

I think you just have to take the time to make the food fun and always let them know they can spit it out if they don't like it, as long as they try it. 9 times out of 10 my son has said, "oh, that is good."

I think it has a lot to do with how they are fed early on. If you start them early with veggies and keep with it then they are probably more likely to eat them. My daughter loves veggies. Green beans, lima beans, peas, carrots. She'll eat anything. She didn't like the pea baby food, but actual peas she will eat. I make sure she doesn't get a lot of junk food or fast food lunches/dinners. I think things like that are what brings on the dislike of veggies.

Because you were taught how to eat right. My kids would rather have fruits and veggies over candy too, but they have always had limited access to candy and junk food.

It's all about what they were taught early on. I have a grand daughter who is 2 1/2, her mother, my youngest daughter is a vegetarian, and is raising the baby to be as well. She has always eaten healthy, and at 2 loves asparagus, broccoli, mushrooms, artichokes, avocados, tomatoes... you get the picture. This is what she has been eating since she starting eating solid food. It's all about what you teach them when they're little.

I think it's partially due to their parents attitude toward healthy foods. If you present a kid with food and say "please eat just one bite, I know it's yucky, just do it." They're going to resist. Or if you make a separate dinner for the kids including hotdogs and tator tots because that's "kid food" you're teaching them to prefere that junk.

My daughter eats the same things I do, we usually have a meat, 2 vegetables, plus a salad with our dinners. She just loves carrots, I catch her in the fridge with carrots all the time. LOL

Its not that they dont care its a combination of things

cartoons emphasize eating vegetables as bad.

they hear it from other children its bad.

The parents arent forceful or dicaplined enough to make their kids eat vegetables.

also most children just dont have the concept to understand that vegetables are good for them. Its up to parents and responsible people to teach them good manners and to be open minded.

Also if you start young with a kid and teach them to eat vegetables they will enjoy them, thats how me and my brothers were raised and we love it.

that is such a big misconception... I think that it is the parents that dont give veggies to their kid from day one(the kind that kids like, like carrots) that have the problems with obese children. if you watch shows like honey, we're killing the kids, then you will realize that the kids actually do like the good food, but its the parents that dont have the patience to test it out.

Because they ARE children. It's not as if they've divised a plan to make adults crazy. Veggies don't taste good to some children and so they avoid them as much as possible.
