You could be confused...or agnostic...or a lot of things...if you go to this cute quiz, it'll rate your alignment with a religion.

You are right to be concerned about these things, and especially for your child. Remember, we will be dead much longer than we will be alive, so yes, our religion can be very important in the long run.

You will receive advice from a lot of different people on this. The Bible states: "Seek out your own salvation with fear and trembling".

That means to take it very seriously and don't let one person's opinion make your decision for you.

There once was a man who was driving his large truck through a snow storm. It was night time and the snow was so bad, he couldn't see the road at all, he could only see the utility poles on the side and so he just kept driving, staying to the left of these poles by 20 feet or so. He knew that it wasn't the smartest thing to do, especially since he was so sleepy, but he just HAD to get home, so he took the risk.

Unfortunately, there was an exit on the freeway, and the poles lead him off the exit. Not knowing that he was no longer on the freeway, he didn't see until it was too late that at the end of the long exit ramp, there was a stop sign, and you have to turn either left or right, because there was a rock formation. And since the stop sign was completely covered in snow, this man went right past it and into the rock formation.

What he didn't know is that all of the cars who were driving along behind him on the freeway also could not see the road due to the heavy snow. But they assumed that since he was a professional truck driver, with more experience driving then they had, and since he was up high where he could see better, that he must know what he was doing, and so all the cars were just following blindly behind him. They also thought they were still on the freeway when the ramp came to an end, and they all piled up at the end of the ramp, one upon the other.

My point is, it doesn't matter what you believe. Your believing in something will not make it so. There is a reality about eternity, and nothing you or I believe about it will change that.

If you follow the wrong person (which could include yourself), and follow unwisely, you will regret it for all eternity.

I have made an intense study of the religions of the world. I wanted to know what they said about them selves. I learned how they were founded. I learned about the character of the people who founded them. I also studied the authoritative documents for the religions as well as the historical evidence for them.

I found the religion that, at least historically, is the most accurate.

Then I sought God. And that is all I can tell you. The Bible states: “Seek and you shall find”. It also states, “He that comes to God must believe that he is .. a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him”

If you sincerely seek God, he will lead you, as he lead me.
And when you find what you are seeking, you will preserve your life beyond the end of your mortal body.

When you, and one day your child, dies, you will come face to face with the answers. What a terrible day that will be if you discover that your only hope of continuing on your eternal journey was in your hands all along, and you neglected to make provision for it!

I wish you success!

To answer this question properly I need to tell you about a man who was leaving his workplace when he was stopped by the security guard at the gate. There had been a high level of theft at this particular factory and the man was walking out with a small wooden box in a wheelbarrow. The security guard demanded to know what was in the box, only to find sawdust. Since it was ok to take sawdust the security guard let him pass. This happed for weeks. Day after day the man would walk out and show the security guard what was in the box and it was always sawdust. Finally the security guard told the man that he would forgive anywrong doing if he would just confess what he was up to. The man looked into the security guards eyes and confessed, "ok ok, I'm stealing wheelbarrows". The point here is that sometimes we are so caught up in the small things that we miss seeing God and having a relationship with him. Don't be so confused by a small wooden box - peoples opinions and religions - that you dont even notice the wheelbarrow (God's desire to love and have a relationship with you.) READ YOUR BIBLE and ask him to reveal himself. The difference between christianity and other religions is that other religions require you to eternally seek, whereas in Christianity you will find because God reveals himself.

Jesus, Mohammed, Abraham were just human beings. They were great leaders but they were just humans. Bible, Quran, etc. are just books of "opinions".. and not any words of God.
These books in those days are not much different from Lawmakers writing bills and putting them into the constitution.
So, elevating the great leaders to the level of God is just ridiculous.

There is no God, as a creator or a governor of the world. God is the "energy". The energy that binds the atoms together, the energy that underlies the DNA, the energy that is life.

We are all fighting for stupid reasons like God and Religion. Both are just concepts.

If you have a choice, don't follow any religion. All religions are nothing but hubs of power and politics.

People who do not believe in any gods are atheists, but you believe in a creator... which is... not a god? Aliens with supetechnology? What aside from a god could be defined as a creator of something so enormous?

A lot of our founding fathers in america believed in a philosophy called "Deism" in which "God" created all things, called them good, and rested, and is still resting, and isn't going to do a thing to interfere with what we do. Sounds a lot like you're ideas,
so if he asks what religion you are, tell him you're not religious, you're a philosopher. Then when he asks you what philosophy you are, tell him you're a Deist.

Then found your own cult called "The Church of the Holy Deism," because there are so many people in the world that are just slaves to fancy words that really mean nothing.

Then when your son asks you who you are, tell him you're a person who believes that people should do the right thing, and be nice to each other, and not get all caught up on fancy words.

You are agnostic...

I don't think you really believe that bit about the beach or the clouds....you just like to have an alternative to dying and being no more...just rotting away.

It's not so bad...sort of makes you appreciate life more if you know there really isn't anything on the other side..this is all we get. There is no creator looking out for us...no meaning to life...no plan for our lives. You just live, do what you do and be remembered for what you did. Now, have a beer and relax.

Just open your eyes, sin is everywhere! And do you know who put evil on this earth? The devil. How can you not think that he really exists?
Open your eyes once again please, because Jesus came down for you. Do you know who sacrificed his son so that you may be forgiven and not be burned and punished for your sins? God did. God loves you, and hates sin.
The Bible is the book to life, and if you are faithful to God you will feel his prescence. You will know that he is looking out for you. Just give it all to Jesus, why worry when you know Jesus will take care of it? And at certain times, Where God closes a door he opens a window.
Read about the end of times, it is truly fascinating to see great earthquakes and famines in the world, and wars in the Middle East. Wait that's happening right now! Look out.

There is no one true religion for all to follow... Your spiritual path is yours alone, and you need to find what resonates in your heart. I am not here to convert you or to evangelize, I am going to simply share with you how I came to find my belief system.

I was raised Catholic. Over the years i found that the rlkigion was hurting me more than helping. I could not stand the bigotry and the oppresion, nor could I take the closed-mindedness and hypocricy. So, once i moved out on my own away from home, I started reading about other religions and meditating to see which path called to me. This is where i found Wicca. A nature based religion, with the deity having a strong female part and her male consort. This was a religion where i could use my spiritual gifts for something other than warding off the emptiness of a church full of people.

the point is... reading and meditation will help you greatly in your sp[iritual quest. the spirit guides are out htere and willing to help you wihtout judegemt or ridicule.

Blessed Be!

How can you believe in something that you may have never discussed your whole life? The bible is interesting in many ways, and every man who wrote it, wrote from gods perspective as his pencil pushers. I would tell your son the truth. Tell him that you dont know. Maybe you ought to talk to someone who is familar with the bible and see if they can answer the questions you have, like a Jehovahs witness. They care and will listen. You cant be interested in something that may have never been discussed in front of you as a child. Give your son some hope and your blessings if he says he wants to learn. A good parent supports their children even in trying times.

Good Question
and a good answer is: Follow the religion of "Humanity", and nothing else.

And all humanity requires from you:
Love every one
Try to help every one
Try to forget others mistakes
Try never to hurt some one
Just smile, and try make others smile too
And beleive there is no religion, but humanity
Don't differ between anyone on base of religion/race etc
Just beleive you are a human, and other are too

and if you beleive in God (no respect to any religion), that's really good. Because this feeling will help you when you have run out of options/hopes/possibilities. Just try to imagine if God is right in your heart and pray. "Oh God, help me".
And if your trust in God is true, you'll find a way

That's it. Don't get messed up brother, this is very very simple.

And if some one asks you who you are ?
Say (proudly) I am a human.

May I suggest Monty Python's Galaxy song from the meaning of life, and the last song in the same movie. They helped me out of a lot of binds that I think I'm in.As far as religion, today's world has enough, make one for yourself.Don't hurt anybody and have fun with it.A person who makes no mistakes misses many lessons.Take the best of all the religions and make that your way. It's not as easy to mistrust something if you know about it.I'm Canadian, so I see many different cultures everyday,Like every where there's good folk and jerks and a spectrum in-between.Keep the good close, and a eye out for the others.
