Um, I read in a Parents magazine that it doesn't matter if you put butter or cheese on them, that doesn't take away from the nutritional value of the vegetables. Try reduced fat cheese so you don't feel so bad?
Do you know how easy it is to puree spinach into a tomato sauce and put it in a lasagna or on spaghetti? How about pureeing some carrots and adding it to mashed potatoes, have a theme dinner, tell them it's orange night. Have orange juice to drink, carrots, and the mashed potatoes with carrots. Have a lean hamburger and put orange reduced fat cheese on it. If none of this works, get a juicer, and liquidify the yummy vitamins and mix it with yogurt, disguise it as smoothies, and serve over ice-- perfect for summertime! (You can even freeze these into molds for popsicles) ;) If all else fails, FLINSTONES!!!
Oh yeah, and there is nothing wrong with cheese, studies show that in diets where cheese is common, the chances of acquiring type 2 diabetes is significantly less. (France for example, has much less instance of the disease than the US.)

Cheese!!! You are ruining the whole idea of what veggies are about. Try putting a very small bit, 1/4 tsp. of vanilla in them instead and cook canned veg. a little longer for flavor, not just heat them. It takes away the bitterness and doesn't add fat. Just tell them that they are expected to eat veg. Just like they are expected to sleep and go potty. It is a part of growing healthy. If they won't eat them, then take away priviledges. You are the parent and must make the decisions for them until they grad. and move out. It is great to get this lesson, that you expect them to do certain things, across now before the pre teen years when they will
" try to rebel and argue ' about what color the sky is, etc.Best wishes with the change of food. Remember you are raising adults who you want to be respected, productive, and healthy.

I think that's fine. I wouldn't worry about that at all. Cheese is protein and calcium anyway, something l want my kids to get more of.
Just let them keep eating it that way, it won't hurt anything. I'm a mom and I don't like veggies that much either unless I add something to it!

Just make sure it is not processed cheese! If you need to add to the veggies to get them to eat them, that is fine, but make it healthy addition - a bit of light butter and sea salt, cheddar cheese, low fat ranch dip, etc.

If you're worried about the fat in the cheese, try switching to a reduced fat cheese, then less and less of that, then try cutting it out altogether, remember you're the mom, you make the rules. I'm sure your mom "forced" you to eat things you didn't like.
It's never too late to change a child's eating habits, you just have to be consistent.
I remember in my home, we had 2 choices when it came to food; take it or leave it.

I agree. Whatever works to get the veggies in them. Personally, my youngest wouldn't eat mashed potatoes until I put a "scoop" of them on an ice cream cone.
