Well I wonder why he will not listen 2 u. You never but never hit a dog and not expect them to be scared of u. That is abusing your pup, there is other ways of punishing them but I guess u think smacking them is the only way 2 correct them right? U do not need a dog, find a new home for it if u are going to smack it around.

Don't worries he's a puppy you both can make up. Get you a clicker and a few treat. Call him to you if he don't come go to him hug him give him a treat and lots of love. walk away and try again once he come to you click the clicker and praise him. He will learn that the clicker mean he done good! When he does something wrong say no bad dog or his name. Remember he is a puppy that's like a 2 year old baby. But he'll get better in no time at all. Consistence is the main thing....

You shouldn't smack a dog. Usually the tone of your voice is enough to punish a dog. Depending on what it is he did when ever he does whatever he did make a noise that you know he doesn't like that is also another way to punish a dog. But never ever hit him with anything.
You are going to have to earn your dogs trust all over again. He no longer trusts you.
Good Luck

You shouldn't have hit your dog, because now he is afraid of you. You'll notice that if even lift your hand to pet him, he jumps back, just like children or anything else that has been hit before. Try to cuddle with him, give him treats, don't yell, things that'll get your dog to trust you again.
Take this as a learning experience, just don't hit your dog again. I wish you all of the best! I'm sure in time, if you're super sweet and nice to him, he'll trust you again.

He is afraid of you. Dogs expect to be disciplined by the leader of the pack, but if you disciplined him unjustly in his mind (meaning if you hit him-shudder-after his 'bad', not while he was doing it, he thinks you hit him for no reason), or overly harshly, he now no longer views you as leader. You have to regain his trust by being firm with him, not getting angry or raising your voice or hands & by becoming friends with him again. It can take some time to restore broken trust, but it can be restored, and is worth the work.

Just remember, do NOT hit him, hitting doesn't work (as you found out), and only punish him by scolding when you catch him in the act. Dogs don't understand cause & effect.

Your dog won't listen as long as you use aggressive means with him/her. Teach your dog by saying NO firmly and loudly. He will learn by that tone of voice. Teaching your dog is simple but you must have patience. Number one he does not rule the home you do. 2. Train your dogs with treats. He does something good..praise him and give him the treat. He will connect good thing leads to good treats. As soon as your dog goes potty inside, say No, take him outside immediately and he will learn faster than you think.
hope this has helped.

Dogs listen because they trust you and see you as the boss. You should never hit your dog - positive reinforcement works much better.

You need to make your dog work for you - "nothing in life is free." He has to sit beore you pet him, sit or lie down before you feed him...ultimately, you are in control of all his resources. Dogs need to feel they are in a structured environment (i.e. someone is the boss) or they will seek it out. Take a look at the dog articles:

You should never smack an animal. You outta' be thrown in jail. Don't you know hitting an animal as a form of punnishment never works. It's because of creeps like you that tons of abused, violent, hard to place animals come into shelters each year.

Using your dog as a punching bag is just wrong. The only way to earn a dog's trust is through kindness.
